PROJECT OVERVIEW
We are a boutique mortgage brokerage based in Melbourne, Australia. Our website is an important source of enquiries, credibility and organic search traffic.
We are looking for an experienced WordPress and Elementor developer to modernise and improve our existing website.
This is not a project to discard the current website and start again. We want to retain the existing SEO value, URLs, content structure and key functionality while significantly improving the design, usability, consistency and performance.
The work will include refreshing the homepage, creating improved reusable templates for service pages and modernising the blog and article templates.
We already have established content, rankings and website structure. The developer must work carefully within the existing site and avoid changes that could unnecessarily damage SEO performance.
WHAT WE NEED
The current website has strong content but needs a more modern, professional and consistent design.
The project will involve:
• Refreshing and modernising the existing homepage in Elementor
• Improving the visual hierarchy, spacing, typography and calls to action
• Creating a consistent design system across the website
• Building reusable Elementor templates for service pages
• Redesigning the blog archive and individual blog post templates
• Improving mobile and tablet responsiveness
• Simplifying long or repetitive page layouts without removing valuable SEO content
• Improving navigation and the overall user journey
• Ensuring pages remain easy for our internal team to edit
• Optimising images, CSS, scripts and assets for performance
• Reducing unnecessary plugins, duplicated sections and design inconsistencies
• Testing forms, links, menus and responsive layouts before launch
• Proofreading all pages during implementation and flagging obvious spelling, grammar, formatting or content inconsistencies before launch
SEO PRESERVATION IS CRITICAL
We are not looking for an SEO strategist or copywriter. Our SEO team will provide guidance where required.
However, the developer must understand how to implement a redesign without damaging existing SEO.
This includes:
• Preserving existing page URLs
• Retaining correct heading structure
• Preserving metadata and schema already in place
• Avoiding unnecessary deletion of established content
• Maintaining internal links
• Implementing redirects where a URL change is specifically approved
• Preserving image alt text where appropriate
• Avoiding changes that create duplicate pages or indexing issues
• Working safely on a staging website before deployment
• Checking the live site carefully after launch
The goal is to improve the design and user experience while retaining the website’s existing SEO foundations.
KEY PAGES AND TEMPLATES
The initial scope is expected to include:
• Homepage refresh
• Reusable service-page template
• Blog archive template
• Individual blog post template
• News or resource template
• Contact and enquiry sections
• Header and footer
• Mobile navigation
• Reusable calls to action and trust sections
The successful developer may later help apply the new service-page template across the wider website.
MUST-HAVE EXPERIENCE
• At least five years of WordPress and Elementor experience
• Proven experience modernising existing Elementor websites
• Strong Elementor Pro skills
• Experience creating Theme Builder templates
• Strong HTML and CSS fundamentals
• Excellent responsive design skills
• Experience working from Figma or supplied design references
• Understanding of WordPress performance and Core Web Vitals
• Experience working safely with staging and deployment
• Understanding of SEO-sensitive website redesigns
• Ability to preserve URLs, metadata, headings, schema and internal links
• Strong proofreading and quality-control skills, with attention to spelling, grammar, formatting and consistency
• Clear written English and proactive communication
• Strong attention to detail
NICE TO HAVE
• Experience working with mortgage brokers, finance or professional-service businesses
• Experience with HubSpot, Calendly, forms or CRM integrations
• Experience with technical SEO tools such as Screaming Frog
• Experience improving page speed on existing Elementor websites
• Ability to identify plugin bloat, layout duplication and inefficient Elementor structures
