Coastline Bench is recruiting an experienced Senior Client Accountant for a growing U.S.-based bookkeeping and accounting firm.
This is not a basic virtual assistant, data-entry, or accounts payable processing role.
We're looking for someone who can take ownership of accounting for multiple clients, independently investigate financial discrepancies, communicate directly with U.S. business owners, and help improve accounting operations.
The ideal candidate is a proactive accounting professional who can look at a client's books, identify what's wrong, determine what needs to be done, and execute without constant supervision.
Responsibilities
- Independently manage full-cycle accounting and bookkeeping for U.S. business clients.
- Own monthly close, bank and credit card reconciliations, balance sheet reviews, and financial reporting.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in QuickBooks Online.
- Prepare accruals, prepaids, adjusting journal entries, and supporting schedules.
- Reconcile e-commerce activity involving Shopify, Stripe, PayPal, Amazon, or similar platforms.
- Identify unusual financial movements and proactively raise concerns.
- Communicate directly with U.S. clients about financial statements, missing information, and accounting issues.
- Develop standard operating procedures and improve accounting processes.
- Potentially train and review junior accountants as the firm expands.
Required Qualifications
- Strong hands-on QuickBooks Online experience.
- Experience independently managing accounting responsibilities for multiple U.S.-based clients.
- Proven month-end close and balance sheet reconciliation experience.
- Solid understanding of U.S. accrual-basis accounting.
- Ability to diagnose complex accounting problems and implement solutions.
- Strong spoken and written English.
- Excellent accountability, communication, and independent problem-solving skills.
- Reliable availability for the agreed U.S. working-hour overlap.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting a U.S. CPA firm or bookkeeping practice.
- E-commerce accounting, payment processors, and clearing account reconciliations.
- QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor certification.
- Previous experience managing or reviewing junior accountants.
- Experience with accounting cleanup and process improvement.
What Success Looks Like
You will initially help manage two established client accounts, taking ownership of their accounting processes, reporting, and client communication.
As the relationship develops, there may be opportunities to take responsibility for additional clients and help oversee accounting staff.
How to Apply
Please include your résumé and answer all five questions:
1. How many U.S. clients have you independently managed simultaneously in QuickBooks Online?
2. Describe a difficult accounting cleanup or month-end close issue you personally identified and resolved.
3. What experience do you have with accrual accounting and e-commerce reconciliations, particularly Stripe, Shopify, PayPal, or Amazon?
4. Have you communicated directly with U.S. clients and independently led accounting discussions?
5. What is your expected monthly compensation in USD, and what U.S. working hours can you consistently maintain?
Candidates selected for the next stage will complete a practical accounting assessment and live technical interview. We value initiative, accountability, sound accounting judgment, and honest communication.
