Phanium LLC seeks an experienced Senior C++ Software Developer to update, maintain, and enhance our existing Zero-Exposure Architecture (ZEA) platform codebase. You will work on improving performance, adding enterprise features, refactoring legacy code, and implementing security enhancements to our quantum-resistant encryption software. This role focuses on continuous improvement and optimization of production code rather than greenfield development. Remote position with flexible hours accommodating US business schedules.
Responsibilities: Review and analyze existing Visual C++ codebase to identify optimization opportunities and technical debt; refactor code for improved maintainability, performance, and security; implement feature enhancements and bug fixes prioritized by product roadmap; integrate new cryptographic libraries and post-quantum algorithms into existing architecture; optimize USB driver code and hardware integration layers; improve multi-threading and memory management efficiency; conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members; collaborate with product and security teams to prioritize updates; maintain comprehensive documentation of changes and architectural decisions; ensure all modifications comply with FIPS 140-2 and security standards.
Required Experience:
8+ years professional C++ development experience
Expert-level proficiency in Visual C++ (MSVC) and modern C++ (C++17/20)
Proven experience maintaining and refactoring large, production codebases
Strong understanding of Windows development (Windows API, Visual Studio, WinAPI)
Demonstrated expertise in software optimization and performance tuning
Experience with memory management, debugging memory leaks, and profiling tools (Valgrind, AddressSanitizer)
Knowledge of multi-threading, synchronization primitives (mutexes, condition variables), and thread-safe design patterns
Proficiency with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines
Strong debugging skills using Visual Studio debugger and platform-specific debugging tools
Experience writing and maintaining unit tests (Google Test, Catch2, or similar frameworks)
Excellent communication skills and ability to document code changes clearly
Highly Valued Experience:
Cross-platform C++ development (Windows, Linux, macOS)
Experience with cryptographic libraries (OpenSSL, libsodium, Botan)
Familiarity with post-quantum cryptography or quantum-resistant algorithms
Knowledge of FIPS 140-2 compliance and secure software development practices
Experience with embedded systems or hardware driver development
Background in cybersecurity or security-focused software
Experience with CMake, build system optimization, and dependency management
Proficiency with static analysis tools (Clang, Cppcheck, Coverity)
Prior code optimization work on performance-critical systems
Experience refactoring legacy C++ codebases
Responsibilities in Detail:
Code Analysis & Refactoring
Analyze existing Visual C++ codebase to identify performance bottlenecks
