SENIOR BUSINESS OPERATIONS VIRTUAL ASSISTANT - NEW VENTURE DEVELOPMENT
Remote | Full-Time / Long-Term | Reports to Founder
This is a VA role, but it is not primarily administrative. We are looking for someone who understands how a business works end to end.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for an experienced Virtual Assistant / Business Operations professional who has had deep exposure to the inner workings of a U.S.-based business.
This is not an entry-level administrative VA position.
We are specifically looking for someone who has worked closely with a business owner, founder, GM, or senior management team and has seen how a business operates end to end.
You may have been an Executive Assistant, Operations Manager, Senior VA, Chief of Staff, General Manager, Project Manager, or similar. Your title matters less than your actual experience.
Have you been close enough to the business to understand how it actually works?
Our founder builds and invests in new businesses. You will work directly with him to research, plan, launch, and eventually help operate new ventures.
We want someone who can bring practical knowledge from businesses they have already worked in and apply that experience to building new ones.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
You will help the founder understand, evaluate, build, and operate new businesses.
Break down how different businesses operate from customer acquisition through fulfillment
Research competitors, pricing, vendors, software, staffing, and business models
Help determine how a business should be structured and launched
Build operating plans, workflows, SOPs, and processes
Identify vendors, suppliers, contractors, employees, and technology needed to operate the business
Understand and document how leads are generated, sold, fulfilled, and serviced
Help develop pricing and revenue models
Identify operational risks, bottlenecks, and opportunities
Coordinate vendors, contractors, employees, and outside partners
Help recruit and manage team members
Track business performance and identify problems
Take increasing ownership of new ventures once they launch
This role will involve both thinking and execution. One day you may be researching how an industry works. The next you may be interviewing vendors, building a workflow, hiring someone, reviewing unit economics, or solving an operational problem.
THE TYPE OF EXPERIENCE WE WANT
We are particularly interested in candidates who have worked inside a U.S.-based small or medium-sized business and had exposure to many parts of the company.
For example, you should be comfortable explaining:
What the company sold
Who the customers were
How customers found the company
How leads were converted into sales
How pricing worked
How the company delivered its product or service
How employees and contractors were managed
Which vendors or outside partners were important
What software and systems ran the business
What the major expenses were
Where operational problems typically occurred
How customer complaints or service issues were handled
What metrics the owner cared about
What you would change if you were building the company again
You do not need to have owned the business yourself.
However, we are looking for someone who was close enough to the operation that they genuinely understood how the business worked rather than simply completing isolated administrative tasks.
IDEAL BACKGROUND
You may be a strong fit if you have previously worked as a:
Senior Virtual Assistant
Executive Assistant to a business owner
Operations Manager
Business Operations Specialist
Chief of Staff
General Manager
Project Manager
Operations-focused Executive Assistant
Senior administrative professional with significant operational responsibility
Experience working directly with a U.S. entrepreneur or small-business owner is strongly preferred.
SKILLS WE'RE LOOKING FOR
You should have strong experience in several of the following:
Business operations
Sales and business development
Marketing and customer acquisition
Customer service
Hiring and recruiting
Vendor management
Operations and fulfillment
Pricing
Basic financial analysis
Process development
SOP creation
Project management
Research
Managing employees or contractors
You should also be:
Highly resourceful
Commercially minded
Comfortable making decisions
Able to work independently
Strong at research and problem solving
Comfortable learning unfamiliar industries
Extremely organized
An excellent English communicator
Comfortable working directly with a fast-moving U.S.-based entrepreneur
We value business judgment and resourcefulness more than credentials or corporate titles.
WHY THIS ROLE IS DIFFERENT
This is a VA role, but it is not primarily about calendar management, data entry, or routine administrative work.
We are looking for someone who understands businesses.
The long-term opportunity is to become the founder's right hand in researching, launching, and operating new ventures.
For the right person, that could eventually mean taking significant ownership over the operations of one or more businesses.
HOW TO APPLY
Please include both of the following.
1. Resume / CV - Provide a link to your updated resume.
2. Introduction Video - Record a short video introducing yourself and tell us about one U.S.-based business you worked closely with and understood particularly well.
Please explain:
-What the business did
-Who its customers were
-How the business made money
-Your role in the company
-Which areas of the business you personally worked on
-How customers were acquired
-How the product or service was delivered
-How the team was structured
-One significant operational problem you encountered and how you helped solve it
-One thing you would do differently if you were building that business from scratch today
Please do not simply read your resume.
We want to hear you explain the business in your own words. The purpose of the video is to understand how deeply you were involved in the business and whether you understand how all the pieces worked together.
If you have spent years working closely with entrepreneurs and have thought, “I understand how this business works well enough that I could help build one myself,” we would like to hear from you.
