Job Summary
The Senior Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting operations of the company and ensuring the timely execution of core accounting processes. This role will supervise the accounting team and oversee the execution of the monthly close process, reconciliations, and operational accounting workflows.
The Senior Accounting Manager will work closely with the Controller to ensure accounting activities are completed accurately and on schedule. While the Controller retains ownership of financial reporting strategy, technical accounting decisions, and executive financial oversight, this role focuses on operational execution and team management within the accounting function.
The successful candidate will possess excellent attention to detail as well as exceptional communication and analytical skills. This individual should be comfortable in a “hands on” environment, but possess the skills necessary to grow with the Company.
Position Responsibilities to include:
Manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting department.
Supervise accounting staff responsible for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll processing support, general ledger, and other accounting activities.
Monitor team workload distribution and ensure operational continuity.
Provide coaching, guidance, and performance feedback to accounting tea
Ensure accounting tasks and deadlines are executed according to established timelines.
Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close. Coordinate cross-functional activities in support of close requirements. Manages journal entries and conducts account reconciliations and analysis.
Review reconciliations and schedules prepared by accounting staff prior to submission to the Controller.
Produce financial statements and analyses in accordance with US GAAP.
Develop and maintain fixed asset sub-ledger.
Coordinate purchasing cycle in accordance with Company policies.
Provide support to the external CPA firm to ensure a clean and timely year end audit.
Support budget and forecasting activities.
Assist in developing policies and internal control improvements. Recommend workflow enhancements as required.
Understands and follows payroll regulations and labor laws that impact payroll processing, ensures payroll is processed accurately and timely, and collects all necessary supporting documentation and approvals needed.
Prepare and processes the tax filings of the Company
Reviews, analyzes, and presents financial data in response to ad hoc queries from management or regulatory bodies.
Position Requirements:
7 to 10+ years of supervisory experience in the accounting/financial reporting areas. Experience in a growing start-up environment a plus
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant work experience, CPA preferred.
Experience working in U.S.-based accounting environments.
Strong knowledge of US GAAP fundamentals.
Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred).
Advanced Excel proficiency.
Experience supporting payroll and financial reporting processes.
Must have experience with cost accounting and possess thorough knowledge of job costing concepts and procedures.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong people management and team leadership skills.
Excellent interpersonal, supervisory and customer service skills.
Detail-oriented with exceptional analytical, problem solving and prioritization skills.
Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, meet deadlines and be able to thrive in a growth oriented work environment.
