A. Role Summary
Position: SEO & Website Growth Specialist
Employment: Full-time, remote
Reports to: Owner
Harris Plumbing is looking for a hands-on digital marketer to own the growth and performance of our website and organic search presence.
This is not primarily a blog-writing position and is not a traditional “SEO assistant” role. The successful candidate will combine strong SEO judgment, Webflow execution skills, local-search expertise, analytics, call attribution, and content management.
The primary objective is to increase qualified calls, booked jobs, and revenue generated by organic search and our website across Harris Plumbing's service areas in Ontario.
Our major service categories include residential plumbing repairs, leaks, clogged drains, flooding issues, dripping fixtures, well-pump/no-water calls, water heaters, water treatment, smart water shutoffs, water pressure problems, and related residential plumbing services.
B. What You Will Own
B1. SEO Strategy & Keyword Prioritization
You will maintain a structured keyword opportunity model covering:
- Search volume
- Commercial intent
- Search difficulty
- Geographic relevance
- Current Harris ranking
- Competitor rankings
- Existing landing page
- Estimated business value
- Search Console impressions and clicks
- Recommended action and priority
You will determine which opportunities should be addressed by improving existing pages, creating new pages, consolidating pages, building internal links, or earning additional authority.
We care more about ranking for commercially valuable searches than producing a predetermined quantity of content.
B2. Webflow Website Management
You should be comfortable independently building and managing a Webflow website.
Responsibilities include:
-Creating service and educational pages
-Editing existing pages
-Managing CMS collections
-Updating copy and images
-Creating internal links
-Managing titles and meta descriptions
-Updating headings and page structure
-Adding and validating schema markup
-Managing redirects
-Optimizing image sizes and alt text
-Maintaining URL structure
-Performing basic mobile-layout adjustments
-Creating landing pages from approved templates and components
You are not expected to be a senior software developer. More complex custom development can be outsourced when necessary.
B3. On-Page & Technical SEO
You should understand and be able to diagnose:
-Search intent
-Keyword cannibalization
-Indexation
-Crawlability
-Canonicals
-XML sitemaps
-301 redirects
-Internal-link architecture
-Structured data
-Duplicate/thin content
-Page titles and headings
-Core Web Vitals
-Mobile usability
-Page speed
-Image optimization
-Broken links
-Site architecture
You should be comfortable using tools such as Google Search Console, Screaming Frog, Semrush or Ahrefs, and PageSpeed Insights.
B4. Local SEO
Harris competes market-by-market, so local SEO experience is particularly valuable.
You should understand:
-Google Business Profile
-Local Pack/Maps rankings
-Geographic search intent
-Service-area businesses
-Location landing pages
-Reviews and reputation signals
-Local citations
-NAP consistency
-Local backlinks
-Competitor Maps analysis
-Local search-grid/rank-tracking tools
You must understand the difference between building valuable location content and creating thin or repetitive doorway-style pages.
B5. Call Tracking & Marketing Attribution
You will help ensure that Harris can determine which marketing sources generate actual customers.
You should understand:
-Dynamic number insertion
-Tracking phone numbers
-CallRail or similar systems
-UTMs
-GA4
-Google Tag Manager
-Google Search Console
-Conversion events
-Source/medium attribution
-Form attribution
-Landing-page attribution
-CRM attribution
You will work toward connecting:
Search → landing page → call/form → booking → completed job → revenue
You should also understand how tracking numbers can be implemented without creating unnecessary local-SEO/NAP problems.
B6. LSA Lead Analysis
You will take ownership of reviewing and classifying Google Local Services Ads leads.
The objective is not simply to “score calls.”
You will categorize leads such as:
Booked / legitimate but unbooked / price objection / wrong service / outside service area / spam / missed opportunity / unavailable appointment / cancellation / existing customer
You will submit appropriate lead-quality feedback to Google where applicable and analyze the underlying economics of LSA.
Reporting should eventually include:
Cost per lead → qualified-lead rate → booking rate → cancellation rate → completed-job rate → revenue per lead → gross profit per lead
B7. Content Development
You will work collaboratively with Harris's owner, plumbers, managers, and other subject-matter experts.
The preferred process is:
Identify opportunity → research search intent → interview subject-matter expert → create content brief → use AI where useful → human edit/fact-check → build page → optimize → publish → measure → improve
AI should accelerate good research and subject-matter expertise rather than generate large quantities of generic content.
B8. Off-Page SEO
You should understand sustainable authority building, including:
-Competitor backlink analysis
-Supplier/manufacturer links
-Industry organizations
-Legitimate business directories
-Local organizations
-Community relationships
-Local media
-Partnerships
-Digital PR opportunities
-Link-worthy resources
We are not interested in bulk low-quality backlinks, link farms, automated link schemes, or buying hundreds of links.
B9. Reporting & Continuous Improvement
Reporting should focus on business outcomes rather than vanity metrics. Important KPIs will include:
- Qualified non-brand organic clicks: Measures acquisition beyond people already searching Harris
- Organic calls and forms - Measures actual lead generation
- Booked jobs from organic traffic - Measures lead quality and conversion
- Revenue / GP from organic customers - Ultimate economic result
- Priority keywords in Top 3 / Top 10 - Measures search visibility
- Share of search by service/category - Measures competitive position
- Website visitor-to-lead conversion - Measures site effectiveness
- Search impressions and CTR - Identifies ranking and messaging opportunities
- Local/Maps visibility - Measures local availability
- Publishing/optimization backlog completed - Measures execution velocity
C. Required Experience
An ideal candidate will have approximately 3–6+ years of practical SEO experience, preferably serving local businesses or North American lead-generation businesses.
Strong candidates should have experience with:
Webflow, Google Search Console, GA4, Google Tag Manager, Google Business Profile, Semrush and/or Ahrefs, Screaming Frog or similar, call-tracking platforms, keyword research, local SEO, technical SEO, content briefs, internal linking, and basic HTML/CSS.
Experience with plumbing, HVAC, roofing, restoration, electrical, legal, dental, pest control, or other local-service industries is highly desirable.
Experience building sophisticated Webflow animations or custom applications is not required.
