JOB OVERVIEW

SEO Specialist – South Africa

Full-Time | Monday–Friday | Remote

We are looking for an experienced SEO Specialist to join our team and take ownership of SEO strategy and performance across our clients.

This is a high-impact, hands-on role covering technical SEO, on-page optimisation, content strategy, keyword research, and off-page SEO. You should have strong experience using SEO tools and be comfortable working with clients, developers, content writers, and marketing teams.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop and execute end-to-end SEO strategies
* Conduct technical, on-page, content, and backlink audits
* Perform keyword research, competitor analysis, and topical gap analysis
* Optimise titles, headings, metadata, schema, internal linking, and website content
* Identify and coordinate technical SEO fixes including crawlability, page speed, structured data, and site architecture
* Manage link-building, digital PR, and authority-building campaigns
* Monitor organic traffic, rankings, conversions, and other SEO KPIs
* Use Google Analytics and Search Console to identify opportunities and provide actionable insights
* Prepare monthly client reports with clear insights, recommendations, and next steps
* Use AI tools and AI-driven workflows to improve SEO research, content, targeting, analysis, and reporting
* Work closely with content writers, developers, and marketing teams
* Stay up to date with Google algorithm changes, SERP features, AI search, and the latest SEO trends
* Support reputation management activities when required

Requirements

* Minimum 5 years of hands-on SEO experience
* Strong experience in a senior, agency, or in-house SEO role
* Proven track record of improving organic traffic, rankings, and website performance
* Advanced knowledge of technical, on-page, and off-page SEO
* Strong knowledge of Google Analytics and Google Search Console
* Hands-on experience with Ahrefs, SEMrush, and Screaming Frog
* Good understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript as they relate to SEO
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Excellent written and spoken English
* Confident communicating with clients through Teams, Zoom, telephone, and meetings
* Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects
* Strong understanding of current AI and SEO developments

Experience with WordPress, Shopify, Magento, local SEO, international SEO, structured data, CRO, Google Ads/PPC, Hotjar, Microsoft Clarity, or similar tools is an advantage.

Ideal Candidate

You should be able to look beyond basic SEO checklists, identify what is preventing a website from growing, and develop practical strategies that deliver measurable improvements.

You should also be comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with clients and internal teams.
