Ice Cold Spice is an independent e-commerce retailer selling premium interior and outdoor brands to the UK market.
We are 12 months old, and growing rapidly. We’re looking for a reliable, detail-oriented SEO Content Writer on a part-time basis. You’ll kickstart our new, evergreen content engine designed to drive organic growth across strategic product categories. You will also build and format blog content in our Shopify page builder, GemPages, with a focus on clear structure, layout, and user-friendly UX that supports engagement and SEO. You’ll work within a small team of operations focussed VA’s and collaborate closely with the Founder, who has 10+ years’ experience working with some of the biggest brands in the UK.
This is a practical, execution-focused role with real impact — ideal for someone who understands how content and technical SEO work together to drive traffic, rankings, and revenue.

Core Responsibilities
You will be responsible for researching, writing, and publishing weekly SEO-optimised blog content designed to grow overall organic visibility across key product categories. This includes producing buyer’s guides, niche deep-dives, and educational articles informed by UK search behaviour, keyword data, and emerging trends.

Rather than producing generic content, you’ll approach each piece with a clear angle or hook, bringing original thinking and editorial judgement to ensure everything published offers genuine value and stands out from competitors.

You will implement on-page SEO best practices across all content, including structuring pages with clear H1 and H2 hierarchies, embedding target keywords naturally, and building internal links to relevant product and category pages. Where appropriate, you’ll also reference authoritative UK-based external sources to strengthen credibility.

Once written, you’ll format content in visually cohesive templates using our page builder, GemPages, ensuring strong layout, clear structure, and a user-friendly experience. This is a drag-and-drop solution, so no coding experience is required.

You'll monitor traffic, impressions and keyword ranking results over time and communicate observations in Slack.

Secondary Responsibilities
Alongside content creation, you will support ongoing technical SEO improvements across the site. This includes conducting regular site audits to identify and resolve issues such as broken links, redirect chains, duplicate content, and metadata gaps. You will also take ownership of bulk on-site optimisation tasks, including improving image file names, compressing images to improve load times, and contributing to overall site performance.

You will monitor performance using tools such as Google Search Console, keeping track of crawl health, indexing, and Core Web Vitals, while proactively flagging any issues that may impact page speed or user experience. Throughout all work, you’ll maintain a consistent brand tone of voice while balancing SEO performance with readability and user experience.

Additional Responsibilities
As the business grows, responsibilities may evolve over time. Any changes to scope will be communicated in advance.

Training & Support
You will be provided with structured training in the form of Loom videos, designed to ensure consistency and clarity across tasks. While support is available, the role requires someone who is comfortable working independently once onboarded.
Ongoing communication will take place via Slack, with additional quarterly video call check-in calls. All working time must be tracked using Hubstaff, and you will report directly to the Founder. All required tools, systems, and logins will be provided.

Working Hours & Availability
You will work 8 hours a week. You may choose the fixed x2 4-hour shifts that suit your availability. This will then be set in Hubstaff. During these hours, you are expected to be fully dedicated to Ice Cold Spice and not work on tasks for other companies. From time to time, additional hours may be offered in advance. Philippine public holidays are observed however the total weekly commitment remains 8 hours. Where a public holiday falls on a scheduled workday, those hours may be worked on an alternative day by prior agreement.

Essential Requirements
• Proven experience writing SEO-driven content that has driven measured organic results for ecommerce brands
• A solid grasp of technical SEO fundamentals
• Experience with SEO tools
• Comfortable navigating ecommerce environments
• Strong written and verbal English
• Confident working independently
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail

Technical & Working Setup Requirements
• Reliable laptop or desktop (Windows or macOS) with at least 8GB RAM
• Fast, stable broadband internet (minimum 20 Mbps download / 5 Mbps upload, higher speeds preferred).
• Ability to provide a recent internet speed test screenshot and ISP details.
• Backup internet option (e.g. mobile hotspot)
• Quiet, professional workspace
• Working webcam
• Reasonable power backup solution
• Reliable VPN with UK endpoints

Trial Period
This role will begin with a 1-month trial period to ensure the role is a good fit for both you and the business. Performance, communication, reliability, and adherence to agreed working hours and processes will be reviewed during this time. Successful completion of the trial will lead to continuation in this long-term role. Ongoing success in this role means consistently publishing high-quality content that ranks and drives meaningful traffic, while also improving site health and proactively resolving SEO issues. Over time, your work should contribute directly to increased organic visibility, stronger category performance, and measurable commercial impact.

Pay Review
After 12 months, there will be an opportunity for a pay review, based on performance and the scope of responsibilities at that time.

• Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis from W/C 20 April, with available time slots provided in advance to choose from.
• There will be a second stage interview with a task.
• You must be available to start from Monday 4 May 2026.
