If you've ever gotten lost in writing something, chased a sentence until it finally felt right, kept going past the point where most people would have stopped, this is probably for you.
Grounded Properties Land (GPL) buys and sells owner financed rural land across North Carolina, Arkansas, Florida, New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona, and Nevada. We need someone to write our property ads, and what we're really looking for is a storyteller who happens to be writing about land.
Here's what makes this role different from most copywriting jobs you'll see posted. Some of our ads run 300 words, tight and punchy. Others run past 2,000 words, and they need to hold a reader's attention the entire way, building a picture of what life could look like on that land until they can practically feel themselves standing on it. Most copywriters are good at one length or the other. We need someone who's genuinely good at both, and who enjoys the long form work as much as the short form.
We work from a detailed style guide, and we take it seriously. If you're the kind of writer who actually wants to know the rule behind the rule, who feels a little proud when a piece comes back with no corrections because you got it right the first time, that matters more to us than raw output speed.
When you apply, please start your message with the word "Ridgeline" so we know you read this far. This is not a job for someone who wants to interpret the guide loosely or move fast and post first. It is a job for someone who wants their name on writing they'd stand behind, every time.
This role is not a fit if you're most comfortable filling in a template, reciting acreage and zoning facts, or treating 2,000 words as something to pad out rather than something to build. It is a fit if you love language, you're patient with your own drafts, you take real pride in following a standard precisely, and you want to work somewhere your writing is actually read closely and taken seriously.
What you'll do:
Write property listing ads ranging from 300 words to 2,000+ words from a property info that we provide
Match a warm, relationship first brand voice that never sounds corporate or templated
Turn technical details (slope, terrain, access) into inviting, positive language
Sustain a reader's attention across long form pieces without repeating yourself or drifting into filler
Apply our style standards consistently and independently, not just when reminded
What we're looking for:
Strong, natural English writing with real craft behind it, not just correctness
A track record of both short punchy writing and long form, immersive writing
Someone who can follow a detailed style guide precisely and still make the writing feel alive
A pattern of consistent, careful execution rather than fast but inconsistent output
Prior real estate or marketing experience is a plus, but the writing sample matters more
To apply: Send 2 to 3 writing samples, ideally one short piece and one long form piece. Then answer this: tell us about a piece of writing you're proud of and why it still holds up when you read it back.
