Job Overview
We are seeking a high-level Revenue Cycle Strategist & Consultant who can go beyond basic billing and step into a true operator role. This is for someone who understands how a U.S. healthcare practice makes money—and can diagnose, fix, and optimize the entire revenue cycle from end to end.
You will work directly with leadership to assess real clinic environments, uncover inefficiencies, and implement systems that improve cash flow, collections, and operational performance. This role also involves training and guiding virtual assistants, with the potential to grow into a leadership position overseeing a full revenue cycle function.
What You’ll Do
Revenue Cycle Audit & Strategy
Conduct end-to-end audits of clinic revenue cycles (intake ? billing ? collections)
Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and missed revenue opportunities
Clearly explain issues, root causes, and actionable solutions
Optimization & Execution
Clean up aging accounts receivable (AR) and resolve denials
Improve billing accuracy, turnaround time, and reimbursement cycles
Fix front-end issues (insurance verification, authorizations, intake errors)
Implement strategies to improve overall collections and cash flow
Systems & Process Building
Design and standardize repeatable workflows and SOPs
Map out scalable processes across the full revenue cycle
Build structured systems that can be replicated across multiple clinics
Training & Team Development
Train and mentor VAs on billing, verification, authorizations, and AR follow-up
Break down complex workflows into simple, teachable steps
Help maintain performance standards and accountability
Client-Facing Consulting
Communicate directly with clinic owners and stakeholders
Lead discussions, ask insightful questions, and provide recommendations
Operate with confidence as a trusted advisor on revenue cycle performance
Qualifications
Required:
3–7+ years of experience in U.S. healthcare revenue cycle management
Hands-on experience with:
Insurance verification and authorizations
Medical billing (CPT, ICD-10)
Payment posting and AR follow-up
Denials and collections management
Experience working with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers
Familiarity with clearinghouses (e.g., Office Ally, Change Healthcare) and EMRs (e.g., WebPT, Athena, Kareo)
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability
Strongly Preferred:
Experience leading or supervising a billing team
Proven track record improving collections or reducing AR days
Experience rebuilding or optimizing a broken billing system
Background in PT, OT, Speech Therapy, or Chiropractic practices
Ideal Candidate
Thinks like an owner, not just a task-doer
Highly detail-oriented and process-driven
Proactive and able to work independently without constant direction
Strong communicator with confidence in client-facing settings
Calm under pressure and solutions-focused
Ambitious and interested in growing into a leadership role
Growth Opportunity
This role is designed to evolve into:
Lead Revenue Cycle Consultant for multiple clients
Trainer and mentor for a team of Revenue Cycle VAs
Builder of standardized systems across clinics
Potential leader of a dedicated Revenue Cycle Division
Compensation
Competitive hourly rate based on experience and expertise
Opportunity for expanded role and increased responsibility over time
