JOB OVERVIEW

We are a US-based law firm (www.bythelaw.co) seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Paralegal to join our remote team in the Philippines. The ideal candidate will be a licensed lawyer (JD degree holder) with a strong understanding of US law, particularly California statutes and procedures. You will provide essential support to our attorneys, ensuring efficient case management and legal operations during standard US business hours (primarily Pacific Time).

Key Responsibilities

Conduct legal research on US federal and state laws, with an emphasis on California law.
Draft, review, and organize legal documents, including pleadings, contracts, discovery requests, and motions.
Assist with case management, document filing, and deadline tracking using US legal software.
Communicate professionally with US-based attorneys, clients, and court personnel via email, phone, and video conferencing.
Perform administrative tasks such as calendaring hearings, managing case files, and summarizing depositions or testimonies.
Ensure compliance with US legal procedures and formatting standards.

Qualifications

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from a recognized law school (Philippine or international).
Active Bar membership (Philippines or US) is a strong advantage.
At least 2–3 years of paralegal or legal research experience, preferably in a firm handling US law matters.
In-depth knowledge of US legal systems; familiarity with California state law is highly preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Proficiency with legal research tools (Westlaw, LexisNexis, etc.) and Microsoft Office.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently.
Willingness to work during US Pacific Time (PST/PDT) business hours (e.g., approx. 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM PHT, subject to daylight saving adjustments).

Preferred Experience
Background in litigation, corporate law, family law, or Bankruptcy law under US/California jurisdiction.
Experience working remotely for a US-based law firm or legal outsourcing company.
