JOB OVERVIEW

Canadian Metal Fabricators is hiring a fully remote CAD / SolidWorks engineer with strong sheet-metal and manufacturing experience.

ARRANGEMENT
• Fully remote, long-term independent-contractor role
• CAD 400–600 per month, based on demonstrated experience
• Up to 100 active work hours per month (about 25 hours/week maximum)
• Recurring coverage windows agreed in advance
• 30-minute acknowledgement target only during agreed coverage
• This is not a 24/7 obligation
• The strongest 2–3 candidates will complete the same paid 3–5 hour online trial

WHAT YOU WILL DO
• Create and revise SolidWorks parts, assemblies, and sheet-metal models
• Produce manufacturing-ready drawings with dimensions, tolerances, bend details, materials, finishes, and revision information
• Prepare BOMs, cut lists, flat patterns, and DXF files
• Support nesting, material-use planning, and design-for-manufacturing review
• Handle urgent drawing/model changes during agreed coverage
• Maintain clear file naming, revision control, and drawing packages
• Communicate status, assumptions, blockers, and handoffs clearly

REQUIREMENTS
• Strong SolidWorks sheet-metal, assembly, flat-pattern, and production-drawing experience
• Practical fabrication knowledge: bending, laser/plasma cutting, welding, hardware, tolerances, and shop constraints
• Experience with BOMs, cut lists, DXFs, and/or nesting
• Clear written and spoken English
• Reliable internet and power with credible backups
• Properly licensed CAD software unless otherwise agreed
• Care with confidentiality and revision control
