Our US-based law firm (www.bythelaw.co) is seeking a skilled Accountant to join our remote team. This unique role sits at the intersection of law and finance, providing critical accounting and tax support for our attorneys who manage client corporate structures, estates, and trusts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in US accounting principles with specific experience in corporate and estate/trust administration (we will train the right candidate). You will ensure the accurate financial management of client matters, working directly with our legal team during US business hours.
Key Responsibilities
Manage bookkeeping and full-cycle accounting for US-based clients using software such as QuickBooks Online.
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with US GAAP.
Assist in the preparation of federal and state tax returns, including forms 1040, 1120, 1120S, 1065, and sales tax filings.
Perform bank reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable management, and payroll processing for US entities.
Communicate directly with US clients and tea
Support year-end audits and liaise with US-based auditors as needed.
Stay updated on changes in US accounting standards and tax laws.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
MBA or CPA certification (Philippine or US) or equivalent qualification is highly preferred.
At least 5 years of accounting experience, with a focus on US accounting standards, tax, and compliance.
Proficiency in US accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, etc.) and MS Excel.
Strong understanding of US tax regulations and filing requirements.
Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently with high accuracy and meet deadlines.
Must be willing to work during US business hours (e.g., night shift in PH, corresponding to EST or PST).
Preferred Experience
Experience working remotely for a US accounting firm, BPO, or shared services center.
Knowledge of state-specific tax requirements (e.g., California, New York, Texas).
Background in industries common among US clients (e.g., retail, services, e-commerce, professional firms).
