Are you an accountant with experience working with insurance companies (not just insurance agencies)? Do you have a solid understanding of US GAAP and knowledge of Statutory Accounting Principles? We have an exciting opportunity to join our captive insurance company management firm! Direct full-time hire only, no consultants.
We are seeking an experienced, smart, and detail-oriented accounting professional to join us as we experience tremendous growth. You will work directly with our Director of Finance as we document and implement a standard accounting workflow process for our insurance company clients. Specifically, as a reinsurance accountant, you will have responsibility for the accurate and timely preparation of reinsurance bordereaux and reconciliation of relevant accounts. This work is primarily completed in Excel, and we utilize Quickbooks Enterprise for the bookkeeping. Strong understanding of debits and credits, and advanced ability in Excel is absolutely essential; experience in insurance accounting is a huge plus, but we will work to develop a candidate who is serious about the opportunity.
Our captive management firm is 25 years old, but most of our growth has occurred in the past 24 months. As such, we are looking for candidates with a stable employment history who want a long-term opportunity to grow with us.

Your responsibilities will initially consist of working closely with the Director of Finance to establish standardized processes for monthly reinsurance accounting for a portfolio of Risk Retention Groups. Once you are comfortable with the standardized monthly reporting, we will look to promote you to Accounting Manager and delegate full accounting responsibility for several clients.
Qualifications Required:
-Minimum of 5 years of experience accounting. If you do not have at least 5 years of accounting experience, but you have insurance-specific accounting experience, I want to talk to you too!
-Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA certification is a huge plus.
-Capable of managing the reinsurance accounting of multiple clients on a monthly basis with minimal supervision.
-Being a trusted resource reporting to the Director of Finance and major contributor to building out the accounting workflow process.
-Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
-Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all work performed.
-Excellent organizational and time management skills to effectively manage multiple clients and meet deadlines.
-Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with staff and clients.
-Demonstrated problem-solving skills to identify issues and propose effective solutions.
-Commitment to maintaining high ethical standards, confidentiality, and professionalism in handling sensitive financial
information.
-Advanced ability in Excel. Proficiency in Teams, Outlook, Sharepoint, and Quickbooks Enterprise.
