About Us
The Media Company is a real estate media company based in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. We shoot photography, iGuide floor plans, 3D tours, and video for realtors — but video is our flagship. We're known as the best in our market for high-end real estate video, and video is the core of everything we build.
We're growing into a monthly content subscription for realtors — short-form videos that build their personal brand on social media — and we need a skilled editor to help us deliver it at a consistently high standard.
The Role
You'll edit two kinds of content:
Personal brand / social content for realtors: talking-head videos, location showcases, behind-the-scenes clips, and market updates — short-form (60–90 seconds), built for Reels and TikTok.
Listing videos — cinematic property showcases that are the premium product our business is built around.
This isn't a "throw footage together" job. We have a defined style — pacing, colour, music, captions, audio — and you'll be trained on it before touching real client work.
What You'll Do
Edit raw footage into polished, delivery-ready videos following our style bible (pacing, colour grading with provided LUTs, music selection, captioning, purposeful transitions)
Clean, level, and mix audio to a "crispy audio" standard — no hums, hiss, clicks, or wind noise, ever
Cut ruthlessly for hook and pacing — the first 2–3 seconds of every video need to earn attention
Follow our Final Cut Pro workflow standards (project naming, library structure, asset organization)
Submit work through our review process, take feedback from the lead editor, and revise until it hits the bar
Communicate clearly and hit deadlines without needing to be chased
What We're Looking For
Final Cut Pro expertise — this is the one hard requirement. If you primarily edit in Premiere or DaVinci, this isn't the role for you.
Experience editing short-form, social-first content (Reels, TikTok, Shorts)
A strong eye for pacing, colour, and music — someone who can make raw footage feel intentional, not just cut it down
Real estate or personal-brand content experience is a strong plus, but not required if your reel shows the right instincts
Comfortable receiving detailed, specific feedback and iterating quickly
Reliable communicator — someone who flags problems early instead of going quiet
Training & Onboarding
New editors go through a structured 3–4 week onboarding: our style bible, our Final Cut Pro workflow standards, our content formats, a practice edit that has to pass a real quality review, and then supervised work on live client videos before moving to independent work. You'll be trained directly by our lead editor, with final sign-off from our founder.
