JOB TITLE: QuickBooks ProAdvisor – Accounting Reviewer & Administrative Support (Part-Time, Potential Full-Time)

JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented QuickBooks Online (QBO) ProAdvisor to join our team as an Accounting Reviewer and Administrative Support Specialist.

This role is ideal for an accounting professional with strong technical knowledge, excellent analytical skills, and hands-on experience reviewing financial statements and QuickBooks Online files for accuracy, completeness, and proper accounting treatment.

You will work closely with our bookkeeping team to review weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end financials, identify discrepancies, provide constructive feedback, and maintain the quality and accuracy of our clients’ accounting records.

This position starts at 20–25 hours per week, with the potential to transition to a full-time role based on performance, business needs, and mutual fit.

We are looking for someone who can work independently, take ownership of the review process, identify issues without constant supervision, communicate findings clearly, and consistently maintain high accounting standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. FINANCIAL STATEMENT AND PERIOD-END REVIEWS
* Review weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements and accounting reports.
* Review period-end financials submitted through our firm's client portal.
* Verify the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of financial statements.
* Identify unusual balances, discrepancies, misclassifications, and potential accounting errors.
* Verify that balance sheet accounts are properly reconciled and supported by appropriate documentation.
* Review profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and other financial reports for accuracy and reasonableness.
* Provide clear, actionable feedback on issues identified during the review process.

2. QUICKBOOKS ONLINE REVIEW AND QUALITY CONTROL
* Review client QuickBooks Online (QBO) files for accuracy, completeness, and proper accounting treatment.
* Evaluate account classifications, journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
* Identify missing transactions, incorrect postings, unreconciled accounts, and other inconsistencies.
* Assess the overall quality and reliability of clients’ accounting records.
* Recommend adjustments, corrections, and process improvements when necessary.

3. BOOKKEEPER PERFORMANCE MONITORING
* Track and monitor bookkeepers’ accounting review scores and performance trends.
* Maintain organized records of review findings, recurring errors, and areas for improvement.
* Provide constructive, professional, and actionable feedback to bookkeepers.
* Identify recurring mistakes and recommend corrective actions or additional training.
* Help establish and maintain consistent accounting review standards across the team.

4. TAX RETURN TIE-OUTS
* Tie out tax return figures to the corresponding QuickBooks Online records and financial statements.
* Verify that key balances and financial figures agree with accounting records and tax return workpapers.
* Investigate and document discrepancies between the books and tax reporting figures.
* Coordinate with appropriate team members to resolve outstanding differences.

5. ACCOUNTING ANALYTICS AND FINANCIAL REVIEW
* Perform accounting analytics to identify unusual fluctuations, trends, and potential errors.
* Compare financial results across periods and investigate significant variances.
* Identify inconsistent account activity, unusual transactions, and items requiring further review.
* Provide insights and recommendations to improve the accuracy and reliability of financial reporting.

6. ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT
* Access assigned client files through our firm's client portal, review submissions, and track outstanding items.
* Maintain accurate documentation of review findings, corrections, and follow-up actions.
* Monitor assigned reviews and communicate outstanding issues promptly.
* Assist with other accounting review, quality control, reporting, and administrative tasks as needed.
* Help improve internal accounting workflows, review procedures, and quality assurance processes.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Familiarity with accounting workflow and practice management portals.
* Experience working with U.S.-based businesses and U.S. accounting practices.
* Proven experience in accounting, bookkeeping review, financial reporting, or public accounting.
* Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Online (QBO). QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor certification is strongly preferred.
* Solid understanding of accrual accounting, month-end and year-end closing procedures, and financial statement preparation.
* Experience reviewing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, general ledgers, and account reconciliations.
* Familiarity with financial statement review procedures and internal quality control processes.
* Experience reviewing tax returns and tying tax figures back to accounting records.
* Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify accounting errors, discrepancies, and inconsistencies.
* Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accurate, high-quality work.
* Strong written communication skills, particularly when documenting issues and providing feedback.
* Ability to work independently, manage multiple client files, and meet deadlines.
* Professionalism and the ability to handle confidential financial information responsibly.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* CPA, Chartered Accountant, or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
* Experience in a CPA firm, accounting firm, or multi-client bookkeeping environment.
* Experience evaluating bookkeeper performance and providing technical accounting guidance.

WORK SCHEDULE AND GROWTH OPPORTUNITY:
Initial commitment: Approximately 20–25 hours per week.
Position type: Part-time, with the potential to transition to full-time.
Work arrangement: Remote.
Required schedule (Pacific Time):
* Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday: 11:00 AM–3:00 PM or 12:00 PM–4:00 PM.

* Mandatory weekly team meeting every Wednesday.

You must be able to follow the agreed schedule, attend mandatory meetings, coordinate with the team, and meet deadlines.

We are looking for someone interested in building a long-term working relationship with our firm.
The role may expand into a full-time position as our firm grows and the successful candidate demonstrates strong performance, reliability, initiative, and the ability to take ownership of the accounting review function.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We want more than someone who simply checks numbers. We need an accounting professional who can think critically, identify problems before they become bigger issues, uphold high accounting standards, and help our bookkeepers continuously improve.

The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, dependable, analytical, and comfortable working with multiple client files. You should be able to recognize when something does not look right, investigate the underlying cause, and communicate your findings clearly and professionally.

We value accuracy, accountability, initiative, independent problem-solving, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

This is a hands-on accounting review role. We expect you to apply your own accounting knowledge and judgment, not simply rely on automated tools or follow checklists without understanding the underlying transactions.

HOW TO APPLY
Please read the entire job description carefully before submitting your application. Applications that do not follow the instructions below will not be considered.

To confirm that you have personally read this job description, include the exact code below in the subject line of your application or proposal: abblrocks
Applications without this exact subject line will be rejected.

Please address each of the following in your application using your own words (please make it short and direct to the point):

1. LOCATION: What country and city do you currently reside in?

2. ACCOUNTING EXPERIENCE: Briefly describe your relevant accounting experience and professional qualifications.

3. QUICKBOOKS ONLINE: Explain your hands-on experience with QBO, including any ProAdvisor certification you hold.

4. FINANCIAL STATEMENT REVIEWS: Describe your experience reviewing financial statements and identifying accounting discrepancies.

5. TAX RETURN TIE-OUTS: Explain your experience reconciling tax return figures with accounting records.

6. U.S. ACCOUNTING EXPERIENCE: Describe your experience working with U.S.-based clients or accounting firms.

7. AVAILABILITY AND RATE: State your weekly availability, ability to follow the required schedule, and proposed hourly rate.

8. PROBLEM-SOLVING EXAMPLE: Share a brief example of an accounting issue you personally identified during a review, how you investigated it, and what you did to resolve it. Do not disclose confidential client information.

We value specific examples and genuine explanations over generic statements. Your answers should reflect your actual experience and demonstrate your ability to perform the responsibilities outlined above.

CONFIDENTIALITY AND PERSONAL WORK REQUIREMENTS
This engagement involves highly confidential personal and business financial information. All work must be performed personally by the selected freelancer.

Delegation, subcontracting, the use of assistants, and unauthorized third-party access to client information or accounting systems are strictly prohibited.

You must be able to work independently, protect sensitive client data, follow our internal procedures, and take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of your work.

FINAL NOTE
We are looking for a reliable, analytical, and technically strong accounting professional who takes initiative, communicates clearly, identifies problems independently, and follows through on solutions.

If you have the experience, judgment, and attention to detail required for this role, we encourage you to apply with a thoughtful, personalized proposal that demonstrates your qualifications.

We look forward to finding a strong accounting professional who can contribute to our team's success and grow with our firm.
