1 Dash is seeking an experienced **QuickBooks and accounting professional** to help us test, evaluate, and improve an accounting-focused software platform currently under development.
This is not a traditional bookkeeping position.
We are looking for someone who understands how businesses actually use QuickBooks and accounting software and can apply that experience from a **product and workflow perspective**.
You will spend approximately four hours per day actively working inside our software, creating realistic accounting scenarios, testing workflows, identifying problems or inefficiencies, and recommending improvements to our development team.
Your accounting expertise will directly influence how the product is designed and how its accounting functionality works.
## What You'll Do
Your primary responsibility will be to act as an accounting and QuickBooks subject-matter expert for our software development team.
You will:
- Spend approximately **4 hours per day actively testing the software**
- Create realistic businesses, transactions, accounts, customers, vendors, invoices, payments, expenses, and other accounting scenarios
- Evaluate how the software handles common accounting workflows
- Compare workflows and functionality with QuickBooks and accounting best practices
- Review the current accounting structure and recommend better ways to organize or configure the system
- Identify missing accounting features or functionality
- Identify workflows that are unnecessarily complicated or confusing
- Look for accounting situations that could create inaccurate financial reporting
- Test new features and updates released by the development team
- Document bugs, accounting issues, and unexpected behavior
- Recommend functional and workflow improvements
- Explain accounting requirements to developers who may not have an accounting background
- Work directly with our development and leadership teams to prioritize improvements
- Help determine how accounting information should be presented to business owners who may not be accounting experts
## Examples of What You May Review
You may be asked to test and provide recommendations regarding:
- Chart of Accounts structure
- Bank and credit card transactions
- Transaction categorization
- Bank reconciliation
- Accounts receivable
- Accounts payable
- Invoicing and payments
- Customer credits and refunds
- Vendor bills and expenses
- Deposits
- Transfers
- Journal entries
- Recurring transactions
- Financial reporting
- Profit & Loss statements
- Balance Sheets
- Cash-flow reporting
- General Ledger activity
- Sales tax workflows
- Month-end accounting procedures
- Accounting controls and audit trails
- User permissions and accounting controls
- QuickBooks import/export or integration workflows
- Overall ease of use for small-business owners
## What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate has **strong hands-on QuickBooks experience combined with a solid understanding of accounting principles.**
You should be comfortable looking at a software workflow and saying:
*"This technically works, but this isn't how an accountant or business owner would expect it to work. Here's how we should change it."*
### Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on accounting or bookkeeping experience
- Advanced QuickBooks Online experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles
- Experience managing books for multiple businesses or clients
- Experience with month-end close and financial statement preparation
- Strong understanding of real-world small-business accounting workflows
- Ability to identify accounting errors and unusual financial results
- Comfortable learning and testing new software
- Able to clearly document problems and recommended solutions
- Comfortable communicating directly with software developers
**QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification is strongly preferred.**
CPA certification is welcome but **not required**. Practical QuickBooks and accounting experience is more important for this position.
## What Makes This Role Different
This position sits between **accounting and software product development**.
You will not simply be entering transactions or reconciling accounts. You will be helping determine **how accounting software should work.**
We want someone who enjoys asking questions such as:
- Is there a better way to handle this transaction?
- Would this workflow make sense to an accountant?
- Would a small-business owner understand this?
- What happens if the user makes a mistake?
- Does this transaction flow correctly through the financial statements?
- What accounting functionality are we missing?
- How does QuickBooks handle this, and could we make the experience better?
Your recommendations will be reviewed directly by our development team and may become part of the product.
## Schedule
This is a **part-time position requiring approximately 4 hours per day**.
We are looking for someone who can consistently dedicate focused time to testing the platform rather than occasionally reviewing features.
## Ideal Candidate
This role would be especially well suited for an experienced **QuickBooks ProAdvisor, accountant, senior bookkeeper, fractional controller, or accounting consultant** who enjoys technology and would like to help shape the development of a new software platform.
If you have ever used accounting software and thought, *"There has to be a better way to do this,"* this may be an excellent fit.
Please provide a loom video stating why you would be a good candidate for this role.
