JOB OVERVIEW

We are a US-based video production studio that produces premium long-form golf content — full-round course videos with broadcast-style shot tracers, drone coverage, motion graphics, and clean color grades — plus short-form reels cut from the same footage. We shoot in 4K, mostly in LOG, across multiple cameras (cinema, POV/in-cart, and drone). We run a professional editing pipeline with a dedicated sound engineer, and we're now building the same standard for our golf content.

We are looking for one dedicated editor who genuinely knows golf and can make a round of golf look and feel like a broadcast — not a home video.

Who We're Looking For

We want eager editors who genuinely love golf and bring real enthusiasm to long-form content — people who get excited about telling the story of a round, not just cutting clips. Beyond the technical skills, we expect:

No missed deadlines — you hit every delivery date, every time.
Thorough communication — you keep us updated, ask questions early, and never go quiet mid-edit.
Consistently high-quality edits — you hold a professional bar on every video, not just the first one.

If golf is something you actually enjoy and you take pride in your craft, you'll do well here.

This is a long-term opportunity. As we expand further into golf media, we're looking to establish a lasting relationship with the right editor and grow this into a permanent role. We want someone to build with — not a one-off hire.

What You'll Produce (per video)

For each project you deliver:

One (1) long-form 18-hole golf video — 4K, final runtime roughly 45–60 minutes, story-driven and clean.
A custom INTRO on every video — every golf video opens with a built intro (title, hole/course info, branded look). Required on every single video, not optional.
4 short-form vertical reels — cut from the same round's footage (Reels / TikTok / Shorts), 1080 × 1920, up to ~60–90 seconds each.
A clean audio-only export — full-length mix for our sound engineer to master (.WAV, 48 kHz).

Source footage (multicam + POV + drone) is delivered to you via Dropbox.

How Pay Works — It's Not All $250

To be clear up front: $250 is the rate for the full package (one long-form 18-hole video plus 4 reels). Reels bundled with a long-form are included in that $250. When a project is short-form only, short-form reels pay by how challenging the reel is — a simple single-hole course vlog is not the same amount of work as compressing 9 holes into a tight 90-second montage, and the pay reflects that. Here's the breakdown so there's no confusion:

What you're producingPayoutStandard package — 1 long-form 18-hole video + 4 short-form reels$250Simple reel — single-hole course vlog / one- ---------- nt cutdown (light editing)$15Complex reel — multi-hole montage (e.g., 9 holes in 90 seconds): heavy cuts, tracers, graphics, tight pacing$30Reels only — set of 4Quoted by reel type/mix (? $80–$110 for a standard set)Extra reel added onto a long-form package (beyond the 4 included)+$20 each9-hole / shorter long-form (~30 min)Quoted separately (lighter scope)Rush turnaround (under 5 business days)+25%

Every reel-only project is quoted by its complexity, and we'll confirm the payout before you start — so you always know what a given deliverable pays.

MUST-HAVE Skills (do not apply without these)

These are hard requirements. This role is not for a general editor who "can figure out golf."

You understand the game of golf. You know how a round is scored and paced, what a tee shot vs. an approach vs. a putt is, and why certain ---------- nts matter. You should already know what these mean:

Eagle, Albatross, and Condor — golf scoring terms. Reference: Golf Distillery — Golf Scores (illustrated) and Wikipedia — Par (score). (In your application you'll be asked to explain these in your own words — see the questions below.)

Shot Tracer. You know how to add professional ball-flight tracers and can do it cleanly and consistently. Every tee shot and every approach shot gets a shot tracer. We've found the Shot Tracer app produces the best ball-flight tracking, and we'll provide it if you don't already use it — but there are alternative methods (e.g. tracer workflows in After Effects / DaVinci Resolve), and you're welcome to use any approach that delivers the same clean, professional result.
Color correction / color grading is a MUST — we shoot mostly in LOG. You must be able to convert and grade LOG footage (e.g. Sony S-Log), match color across multiple cameras, keep natural skin tones, and deliver a consistent, professional grade. If you cannot confidently grade LOG, this role is not for you.
Drone footage integration — cutting aerial hole flyovers and transitions into the story naturally.
Motion graphics & golf title graphics — animated scorecards, hole/par/yardage cards, score updates, player-name lower-thirds, and titles that reinforce the ---------- nt without cluttering it. Golf-specific title graphics (especially scorecards) are a core, recurring part of every video.
Timecoded multicam editing — you can sync and cut timecoded video and audio across multiple cameras and mics accurately.
4K delivery — a computer, internet, and backup storage that can actually handle full 4K multicam editing and export.

Also Required (baseline for every edit)

Burned-in captions (clean, dynamic — a storytelling element, not a plain subtitle track)
Purposeful transitions and zoom/punch-in — energy without overdoing it
B-roll driven from the on-course footage we provide (course scenery, cutaways, player reactions, ambient shots) — not stock B-roll
Sound FX — purposeful golf sound design (clean ball strike, crowd, ambient course, whooshes on graphics) that sits under the on-course audio, never overpowering it
Golf title graphics — scorecards and score updates are required on every video (see Motion graphics above)
A balanced audio mix · consistent color across all angles · natural skin tones · no over-editing

Avoid: excessive effects, overdone zooms, inconsistent color between cameras, effects that feel disconnected from the round.

What We Provide

Shot Tracer app — if you don't already use it, we'll provide access. We've found it produces the best ball-flight tracking; equivalent methods that deliver the same clean result are welcome.
Envato Elements — paid account for music, sound FX, and motion-graphic/title elements (studio work only). B-roll is pulled from the on-course footage we provide — not from stock.
Dropbox — folders for footage intake and delivery
Brand assets — logos, intro/title templates, and reference examples
Direct communication — we run quick questions and updates over Facebook Messenger with our editing team; it's faster than email

What You Provide

Your own editing software (DaVinci Resolve preferred; Adobe Premiere Pro + After Effects welcome — we only receive your final exports, so your workflow is your choice)
A reliable 4K-capable computer, stable internet, and backup storage

To Apply — Please Include ALL of the Following

Applications missing any of these will not be reviewed:

Work samples / portfolio — links to your best long-form and short-form edits. Golf work strongly preferred. We specifically want to see: shot tracers, a LOG color grade (before/after if you have it), motion graphics, and drone integration.
Golf YouTube channels you admire — list the golf pages/creators whose editing you like and one line on why for each. This tells us your taste and reference point.
Explain, in your own words, what an Eagle, an Albatross, and a Condor are in golf. (Quick knowledge check — don't overthink it.)
Your shot tracer method — what tool or workflow you use to add tracers, and roughly how long one clean tracer shot takes you.
Your LOG color workflow — which cameras/LOG profiles you've graded (e.g. Sony S-Log3), and how you match color across multiple cameras.
Your software and computer specs — editing software, CPU/GPU, RAM, and your internet speed.
Availability & turnaround — how many golf videos per week/month you can take on, and your realistic turnaround for one 18-hole video + 4 reels.
Start your application with the word "FAIRWAY" so we know you read the full post.

Hiring Process — Paid Trial First

We hire the way we hire our whole team: with a paid trial edit before any ongoing commitment.

After a first review of samples, strong candidates get a scoped paid trial. The trial may include both a long-form golf edit and a short-form edit (shot tracer on each shot, a LOG color grade, a custom intro, scorecard graphics, and a reel), and may run across more than one trial period so we can see consistency, not just a one-off.
The trial is paid regardless of whether you're selected for ongoing work.
If the trial meets our standard, you move into ongoing per-video work at $250 per finished 18-hole video (with 4 reels), with more videos added as our golf slate grows.

Scope of One $250 Video (so expectations are clear on both sides)

1 long-form 18-hole golf video, 4K, ~45–60 min final runtime
1 custom intro
Shot tracer on every tee shot and every approach (a standard round; unusually high shot counts are quoted separately)
Scorecards & golf title graphics, motion graphics, drone integration, on-course B-roll, captions, sound FX, and full LOG color grade
4 short-form vertical reels from the same footage
1 clean audio-only export for mastering
Up to 2 revision rounds included; further rounds or new creative directions are quoted separately
Rush turnaround (under 5 business days) and shorter formats (e.g. 9-hole / ~30 min) are scoped and priced separately

Ownership & Confidentiality

All footage, audio, project files, brand assets, and deliverables are the sole property of the studio and the respective content owner. Work may not be posted publicly, added to a personal portfolio or reel, shared with third parties, or reused, without written permission. Selected editors sign a Non-Disclosure & IP Assignment Agreement before their first paid assignment. Provided software credentials are for studio work only.
