About the Role
Mr. Glazier Group is hiring a highly accountable Procurement & Estimating Manager to own the complete process from receiving project documents through estimating, purchasing, and confirmed delivery.
This is not a coordination-only role. You are responsible for the result—not merely sending requests and waiting for responses.
What You Will Own
Estimating
Review architectural drawings, specifications, and project requirements for glazing, glass, and door packages
Prepare accurate material takeoffs and hardware/glass quantities
Identify missing engineering or architectural information before pricing
Send complete RFQ packages to qualified glass, metal, and door suppliers
Compare scope, pricing, exclusions, lead times, and payment terms
Calculate complete landed cost, including freight, duty, and delivery
Deliver estimates by the required deadline
Purchasing
Convert approved estimates into accurate purchase orders for glass, frames, and hardware
Verify dimensions, finishes, glass types (IGU, laminated, tempered), hardware, and specifications before release
Negotiate pricing, terms, and lead times with suppliers and fabricators
Obtain required approvals and order confirmations
Track production, shipping, and delivery
Follow up with suppliers without waiting to be reminded
Escalate delays, cost increases, or specification conflicts early
Maintain organized vendor, pricing, and purchasing records
Accountability Standard
You own every assigned project from estimate through confirmed delivery.
That means:
No missed deadlines without advance escalation
No incomplete RFQs
No unverified purchase orders
No silent supplier delays
No waiting for management to ask for updates
Every problem must be reported with facts, impact, and a proposed solution
Required Qualifications
Mandatory: 3+ years of specific estimating, procurement, or purchasing experience in glazing, architectural glass, window, and door systems
Mandatory: Do not apply if you lack specific hands-on knowledge of glass and door specifications
5+ years total experience in construction estimating, procurement, or purchasing
Strong ability to read architectural drawings, shop drawings, and glazing specifications
Experience preparing takeoffs, RFQs, bid comparisons, and purchase orders for glass and framing systems
Strong supplier negotiation and follow-up skills with glass manufacturers and distributors
Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills
Excellent written and spoken English
Strong organization, urgency, and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and own deadlines
Strong Advantages
Experience with storefronts, curtain walls, façades, aluminum systems, or specialized hardware
Experience purchasing from European or international glass and door manufacturers
Knowledge of freight, import costs, and landed-cost calculations for heavy building materials
Experience creating procurement systems, SOPs, and vendor databases
Experience working with US construction companies or commercial glaze contractors

Estimates completed on time
Purchase cost variance below 2%
Zero orders released without complete verification of glass/door specs and dimensions
Zero unauthorized substitutions
Weekly supplier and order-status updates
Early escalation of risks and delays
Accurate budget-versus-actual purchasing reports
Documented and consistently followed estimating and purchasing processes
