JOB OVERVIEW

Apruv is a growing U.S.-based SaaS company looking for an exceptional backend engineer to join our engineering team full-time.

This is not a traditional “software architect” position where you spend your time creating diagrams and attending meetings. We are looking for a highly technical, hands-on engineer who can make strong architectural decisions and then build those systems in production.

Our backend is primarily Go and PostgreSQL, running on Google Cloud and Kubernetes. We build real-time integrations, event-driven systems, APIs, background processing pipelines, data infrastructure, AI-powered products, and services that integrate with many third-party platforms.

You will work directly with Apruv's CTO and existing engineering team.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Architect and build production backend systems in Go
• Own significant features and services from design through deployment
• Design reliable event-driven and asynchronous processing systems
• Build and maintain third-party API and webhook integrations
• Design PostgreSQL schemas, queries, migrations, and data access patterns
• Solve concurrency, idempotency, retry, rate-limiting, and distributed-systems problems
• Work with Kubernetes and Google Cloud infrastructure
• Debug difficult production issues and improve system reliability
• Review backend code and help establish engineering patterns
• Help other engineers make better technical decisions
• Identify architectural problems before they become large problems
• Ship production code frequently

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We're looking for an unusually strong backend engineer rather than someone who simply checks technology boxes.

Ideal experience includes:

• 7+ years professional software engineering experience
• Significant production Go experience
• Strong PostgreSQL/database knowledge
• Distributed systems and event-driven architectures
• REST APIs, webhooks, and third-party integrations
• Kubernetes and Docker
• GCP, AWS, or similar cloud infrastructure
• Queues, background jobs, retries, and asynchronous processing
• Observability, monitoring, and production debugging
• Designing systems for reliability and scale

Experience with Pub/Sub, Kafka, Redis, gRPC, Terraform, Prometheus/Grafana, WebRTC, or high-volume data processing is a plus.

You should be comfortable independently taking a business problem, understanding the existing system, proposing a solution, and implementing it without needing detailed step-by-step instructions.

AI DEVELOPMENT

We actively use modern AI development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and similar tools.

We care about engineering judgment and the amount of high-quality software you can ship—not whether you wrote every character manually.

You should already be comfortable with AI-assisted development or excited to become extremely good at it.

WORKING HOURS

This position requires FULL overlap with our U.S. engineering team:

9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Mountain Time, Monday–Friday.

This means working overnight hours in the Philippines. Please only apply if you are comfortable maintaining this schedule long-term.

This is a full-time, long-term position. We are looking for someone who wants to become an important member of the Apruv engineering team, not someone managing several freelance clients simultaneously.
