Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented, highly skilled Pre-Press Specialist based in the Philippines to join our team in a fully remote capacity. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting, fixing, and setting up client artwork files to ensure they meet strict production standards before being sent to press.
You will act as the technical quality bridge between artwork creation and physical print production, resolving layout errors, setting up impositions, and ensuring color accuracy across digital and offset formats.
Key Responsibilities
Preflight & Artwork Inspection: Review client-supplied vector and raster files for common print issues, including low-resolution images, missing fonts, incorrect color spaces (converting RGB to CMYK/PMS), missing bleeds, and improper safety margins.
File Repair & Layout Adjustment: Fix technical artwork flaws using standard design software, apply correct trapping, manage overprints, adjust line weights, and adjust vector elements for printability.
Imposition & Production File Prep: Create production-ready print layouts, gang sheets, and impositions using imposition software to maximize substrate usage and streamline finishing processes (folding, binding, die-cutting).
Proof Generation & Client Support: Generate soft proofs (PDF) and technical layout callouts for client or internal Account Manager approval. Clearly explain technical file discrepancies and suggest fixes in plain English.
Color Profile & Spot Color Mapping: Ensure color accuracy by managing spot colors, setting up Pantone conversions, and applying appropriate ICC color profiles.
File Organization & Archiving: Maintain standardized file naming conventions and ensure all print-ready assets and job tickets are properly organized on shared cloud drives or servers.
Key Requirements & Qualifications
Experience: At least 2–4 years of experience working in pre-press operations, commercial printing, or print production workflows.
Technical Software Mastery:
Adobe Creative Cloud: Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Acrobat Pro (PitStop Pro experience is a strong plus).
Pre-press Systems: Familiarity with RIP software, Fiery Command WorkStation, Kodak Prinergy/Preps, Esko, or similar pre-press workflow automation tools.
Language & Communication: Excellent written and spoken English skills to effectively communicate technical print issues to non-technical team members or clients.
Quality & Precision: Outstanding attention to detail—ability to catch tiny layout shifts, color profile errors, and typographical shifts.
Shift Flexibility: Willingness to work aligned hours with international production teams (e.g., US, UK, or Australian time zones) if required.
