JOB OVERVIEW

We are a busy chiropractic office seeking an experienced, professional, and highly organized Personal Injury Lien Negotiator to join our team.
The ideal candidate has experience working with personal injury cases, medical liens, attorneys, law firms, insurance-related documentation, and patient accounts. This position requires someone who can confidently negotiate lien reductions while protecting the financial interests of our practice and maintaining strong, professional relationships with attorneys, case managers, patients, and other parties involved in personal injury claims.
Because this position involves access to protected health information, the successful candidate must have a strong understanding of HIPAA requirements and maintain strict patient confidentiality at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Negotiate chiropractic and medical liens related to personal injury cases
Review settlement information, lien reduction requests, balances, payments, and supporting documentation
Evaluate proposed lien reductions and negotiate appropriate payment amounts
Communicate professionally with attorneys, paralegals, case managers, patients, and other parties
Build and maintain positive, long-term relationships with personal injury law firms and referral partners
Follow up consistently on outstanding personal injury accounts and liens
Track negotiations, correspondence, settlement status, payments, and account activity
Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of all communications and agreements
Coordinate with office management and billing staff regarding outstanding balances and negotiated settlements
Handle sensitive patient and case information in accordance with HIPAA privacy and security requirements
Assist in resolving account discrepancies and obtaining necessary settlement or payment information
Maintain a professional approach while balancing successful collections with valuable attorney and referral relationships
Qualifications
Previous experience with personal injury lien negotiation, medical lien negotiation, chiropractic billing, personal injury collections, or a related field
Familiarity with personal injury cases and attorney lien-reduction requests
Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality requirements
Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with attorneys and law firms
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Comfortable managing multiple cases, deadlines, and follow-ups simultaneously
Professional, persistent, and diplomatic communication style
Experience with chiropractic or medical office systems and electronic records is a plus
