About the role
Monkedia is a fast-growing digital marketing agency, and we're looking for a Performance Video Editor who thinks like a marketer first and an editor second. This is a role for someone who understands consumer psychology and direct response, and who can turn that understanding into short-form video ads that stop the scroll and drive conversion for ecommerce brands.
We care less about polish for its own sake and more about whether you understand why an ad works: how to open on a hook that lands in the first two or three seconds, how to structure that hook both visually and through audio, how to pace a story for a specific brand, platform, and format, and how to hold attention all the way to the CTA. Ideally you've already edited video for DTC ecommerce brands, for organic social and, even better, as paid ads that ran on the Meta platform.
Strong, fast, detail-oriented video editing is the core of the job. AI is how we move faster, not the point of the role. We want you comfortable using AI video and image tools to generate B-roll, fill gaps, and produce variations at speed, without leaning on them as a crutch. The editing instinct and the marketing brain come first; the AI tooling supplements them.
What you'll do
Edit and produce short-form video ads for DTC ecommerce (feed, stories, reels) built to perform, not just to look nice.
Structure hooks that work in the first few seconds, visually and through audio, and pace the whole cut to hold attention to the CTA.
Adapt tone, pacing, and format to each brand and each placement so the ad feels native and on-brand.
Bring a conversion mindset to every cut: you understand the funnel the ad sits in and what it needs to do.
Use AI video and image tools to generate B-roll, fill gaps, and spin up variations quickly, as a supplement to your editing, not a replacement for it.
Clean and shape audio so it sounds natural: voiceover, music, pacing, sync, and sound design.
Add motion graphics, text animation, captions, transitions, and effects that lift retention and clarity.
Produce supporting static creative and variations when a campaign needs them.
Work to brief, manage multiple brands at once, and keep tasks moving in our project-management tools.
Qualifications
Must-have
A marketer's understanding of what makes ads convert: consumer psychology, direct response, hooks, retention, and CTA, not just production skill.
~2+ years editing short-form video for paid social or ecommerce (agency, in-house, or freelance).
A portfolio of DTC / ecommerce video ads. We want to see performance work, ideally ads that ran as paid Meta creative, not only brand reels or logo work.
Strong, fast video editing (Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci, CapCut, or similar).
A real point of view on hook structure, visual and audio, and on how format changes by platform and placement.
Detail-oriented, organized, responsive, and able to manage multiple brands at pace.
Available during U.S. working hours (EST/CST overlap preferred).
Nice-to-have (strong pluses)
Hands-on with AI video and image generation (Runway, Sora, Kling, Veo, Pika, etc.) for B-roll, variations, and speed, with a sense of which tool fits which job.
Natural-sounding AI audio: voice generation/cloning and sound design that doesn't sound synthetic (ElevenLabs or similar).
Motion-graphics depth, plus strong layout, typography, and visual hierarchy.
Graphic design in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator).
Landing-page / web design, and familiarity with Shopify, WordPress, or similar.
Exposure to AI ad-production platforms (e.g. SuperScale) and creative-analytics tools.
Why this role
Own performance video creative for a range of ecommerce brands.
Fast-paced, hands-on, with real ownership of the output and the results it drives.
Use AI to move faster than traditional editors, without losing the marketing craft that makes ads actually convert.
