Part-Time Virtual Assistant — Business & Family Support
Company: Da' Roofers (residential roofing company, Bethesda, MD area, USA) Job type: Part-time, ongoing Hours: ~10 hours/week, flexible schedule (Philippine time is fine — most work can be done async) Pay: $200/month, paid via Wise
About the role
I'm the co-owner of a small residential roofing company, and I'm looking for a reliable, detail-oriented virtual assistant to take a mix of small recurring tasks off my plate — some for the business, some for my household and family of three kids. This is a generalist support role, not a specialized one: the right person is organized, communicates clearly in English, and doesn't need much hand-holding once a task is explained.
I'll be honest that I don't have every task mapped out yet — this role will evolve as we go, and I'm looking for someone who's genuinely flexible about that: comfortable picking up new types of tasks, asking good clarifying questions, and even noticing things I should be staying on top of before I ask. Someone who helps me stay ahead of the game, not just checks off a fixed list.
You won't be doing anything in person — everything is remote:
What you'll help with
Business admin (Da' Roofers)
Managing my inbox: sorting, flagging, drafting routine replies
Keeping my calendar updated and scheduling appointments
Following up with customers/leads by phone or text (reminders, rescheduling, simple check-ins)
Data entry into our company reference sheet (contacts, license/insurance renewal dates, supplier info, etc.)
Household & family admin
Keeping our family calendar updated (appointments, activities, school events)
Researching and helping book services for the house (contractors, deliveries, providers)
Family meal planning and grocery ordering
Handling school/activity logistics for our 3 kids — forms, sign-ups, reminders, deadlines
Researching and helping plan family trips and events (birthdays, etc.)
Task mix will vary week to week — some weeks will lean more toward business, others toward family logistics.
What I'm looking for
Flexible and adaptable — this role isn't a fixed checklist; the tasks will shift and expand over time, and I need someone comfortable with that kind of ambiguity, not someone who needs a rigid job description to function
Proactive — comfortable flagging things I might be missing and suggesting better ways to stay organized, not just waiting to be told what to do
Strong written and spoken English
Comfortable making outbound calls/texts to US customers
Good with Google Calendar/Gmail (or willing to learn quickly)
Organized, and good about following up on open items without being reminded
Trustworthy with personal/family information and comfortable with a light, varying task list
Own reliable internet and a quiet space for occasional calls
Nice to have (not required): prior experience as a VA for a small business owner or a family; experience with a small home-services or contracting business; experience in a role where your responsibilities changed or grew over time.
How to apply
A short intro (2-3 sentences) about your VA experience
Include the word "sunrise" somewhere in your application — this lets me know you read the full post
A 1-2 minute self-introduction video (screen recording or just you talking) so I can hear your English and get a sense of how you communicate
Your availability (days/hours) for ~10 hrs/week, and confirmation you're comfortable with the pay listed above
Applications that skip these steps won't be considered — I'm looking for someone detail-oriented from the start. Looking forward to hearing from you!
