Job Description
We're Humanitees, an environmental t-shirt brand with a mobile ambassador app that lets college students sell shirts, track their environmental impact, and earn rewards.
We're looking for a part-time video editor to become the engine behind our content system. This is a two-sided role: you'll produce organic social content (Reels, TikToks, stories) AND edit UGC footage into paid ad creatives that we'll run across TikTok, Instagram, and
We're in the middle of a 30-day growth sprint testing 5 different audience segments with targeted UGC ads. Your edits will go directly behind paid spend — so the quality and pacing of your work directly impacts our growth. If a video you edit performs, we scale it. If it doesn't, we iterate together.
**This is a great fit if you:**
- Love editing short-form video (Reels, TikTok) and know what performs well on those platforms
- Have experience (or strong interest) in editing UGC-style ad creatives — the kind that look organic but are designed to convert
- Can splice talking-head footage with app screen recordings cleanly and naturally
- Can match a brand's tone and style quickly — ours is casual, authentic, and peer-to-peer (think college student texting their friends, not a corporate brand talking at people)
- Are reliable and self-directed — you'll have a clear weekly workflow and an Editor SOP, and we expect you to own it
- Want to grow with a small brand doing meaningful work (environmental impact, not just selling stuff)

## What You'll Be Doing
**UGC Ad Creative Editing (~35% of time)**
- Take raw UGC footage (talking-head videos from creators) + app screen recordings we provide, and edit them into 15-30 second ad-ready creatives
- Each ad follows a specific format: strong hook (first 1-2 seconds) ? key beats (value prop) ? screen recording of the app spliced in ? soft CTA
- Add text overlays, subtitles, trending audio, and brand elements
- Produce 2-4 ad creative variants per week across 5 different audience angles (high school/college app, sustainability, side hustle, parents, clubs/Greek life)
- Style: authentic and raw, NOT polished — should feel like a real person talking to their friend, with a screen recording to prove the point
**Organic Video Editing (~30% of time)**
- Edit 5-7 short-form videos per week from raw clips we provide (Reels/TikTok format, 15-60 seconds)
- Vertical 9:16 format, fast-paced editing — hook in the first 1-2 seconds, cuts every 2-4 seconds
- Keep it authentic and raw — we want content that feels like a person made it, not an agency
**Captions & Copy (~10% of time)**
- Write first-draft captions and hashtags for each piece of content
- Tone: casual, energetic, Gen Z-friendly — "she literally called her mom on the spot" not "Watch this heartwarming moment as our ambassador connects with a loved one"
- We'll review and tweak, but your first drafts should be close
**Scheduling & Posting (~15% of time)**
- Schedule organic content across two Instagram accounts and TikTok using a scheduling tool (Later, Buffer, or Meta Business Suite)
- Follow our weekly content calendar — we'll provide the plan, you execute it
**Light Graphic Design & Photo Editing (~10% of time)**
- Create carousels, story templates, and occasional static posts using Canva (or similar)
- Edit and retouch product photos, lifestyle shots, and ambassador-submitted images
- Color correction, cropping, background cleanup — keep a consistent visual style across feeds
- We have brand assets (fonts, colors, logos) — you apply them consistently
---
## Weekly Workflow
- **Monday:** Review raw content in Google Drive EDITING folder, match clips to the week's content calendar, flag any gaps. Check if new UGC footage is ready for ad creative editing.
- **Tuesday-Wednesday:** Edit organic videos + UGC ad creatives, write captions, upload finished pieces for our review
- **Thursday:** Incorporate feedback (usually minor), schedule organic posts, prep story templates. Finalize ad creatives for campaign upload.
- **Friday:** Save any tagged UGC/DM submissions into our content database, quick wrap-up message on what went out and what's queued for next week.
---
## Requirements
**Must-have:**
- Proficiency in CapCut (strongly preferred) or similar short-form video editing tools
- Ability to splice talking-head footage with screen recordings — smooth transitions between a person talking to camera and an app walkthrough
- Experience editing Reels/TikTok content — you understand pacing, hooks, trending audio, and what gets views
- Comfort editing direct-response style content (ad creatives), not just organic social posts
- Solid written English for captions (doesn't need to be perfect — needs to sound natural and casual)
- Photo editing skills — comfortable with Lightroom, Photoshop, or similar for color correction and retouching
- Canva skills for basic graphic design (carousels, stories, simple templates)
- Familiarity with Instagram and TikTok — you actually use these platforms and understand how they work
- Reliable internet and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Available to communicate during US business hours for check-ins (flexible on when actual editing work gets done)
**Nice-to-have:**
- Experience editing UGC ad creatives that ran as paid ads (this is a big plus)
- Experience with social media scheduling tools (Later, Buffer, Meta Business Suite)
- Understanding of ad performance metrics (CTR, CPC) and what makes a video "work" as an ad
- Understanding of social media analytics (what metrics matter, what "performing well" looks like)
- Interest in sustainability, environmental causes, or college/Gen Z culture
- Experience managing or posting to brand social media accounts
---
## Hours & Compensation
- **Hours:** 12-15 hours per week (flexible schedule, consistent weekly commitment)
- **Rate:** $8-15/hour USD depending on experience
- **Start:** As soon as possible
---
## How to Apply
Please include in your application:
1. **A brief intro** — who you are and why this role interests you (2-3 sentences is fine)
2. **Links to 2-3 short-form videos you've edited** — Reels, TikToks, or similar. We want to see your editing style, especially pacing and use of text overlays. If you've edited UGC-style ad creatives or content that ran as paid ads, highlight those.
3. **Your experience with CapCut and/or other editing tools** — especially any experience splicing talking-head footage with screen recordings
4. **Your availability** — hours per week and time zone
5. **Your desired hourly rate**
We're a small team (two co-founders) running a 30-day growth sprint to test which audiences respond best to our product. You'll be at the center of the content machine that powers this sprint. If you want to be part of an early-stage brand doing real environmental good and have the editing skills to match, we'd love to hear from you.
