I’m looking for a creative, dependable short-form video editor who wants to become a consistent part of a growing team.
This is an ongoing role, not a one-time editing project.
I create educational, beauty, fashion, speaking, behind-the-scenes and business content. I need an editor who can take raw footage and turn it into strong, polished short-form content for Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts and other social platforms.
I’m looking for someone who actually edits.
This is not the right role for someone whose entire editing process is dropping footage into a CapCut template, adding trending effects and calling it finished.
You should understand storytelling, pacing, hooks, retention and how to d
Editing may include:
Talking-head videos
Educational videos
Beauty and hairstyling content
Fashion and event footage
Behind-the-scenes content
Promotional and launch videos
Client and brand partnership content
Before-and-after or transformation videos
Repurposing longer footage into short-form content
Adding B-roll, images, screenshots or supporting visuals when they strengthen the story
Adding clean captions and on-screen text
Creating both vertical and horizontal versions when needed
I’m looking for someone who can:
Find the strongest hook in raw footage
Know what to cut without removing the personality or point of the video
Create strong pacing without making every video feel frantic
Understand when a simple edit is stronger than a heavily edited one
Use B-roll and supporting visuals intentionally
Create clean, readable captions
Follow brand fonts, colors and visual guidelines
Follow detailed editing instructions accurately
Catch spelling errors, names, dates, URLs and other details
Organize project files and final exports properly
Meet agreed-upon deadlines
Communicate early if footage, instructions or timing create a problem
Take feedback and make revisions accurately
Learn my editing preferences so I do not have to give the same corrections repeatedly
Become increasingly independent as you learn the brand and content
Creative ideas are welcome.
If you see a stronger hook, a better way to structure the video, a moment that should become its own Reel or another idea that could improve the content, tell me.
I want someone who thinks.
But if I request something a specific way, please complete what I requested first. You can then show or suggest the alternative you believe is stronger.
AI can be used as a supporting tool, but you cannot rely on AI to make the creative decisions for you.
I need an editor who can watch footage, understand what is being said, identify the story and make editing decisions themselves.
I also do not want every video overloaded with transitions, sound effects, zooms, filters or graphics. The editing should support the content, not compete with it.
Most importantly, I’m looking for consistency.
I want someone who genuinely wants the job, wants to learn the brand and wants to become part of the team.
I’m looking for someone dependable who communicates consistently, takes ownership of their work and is interested in an ongoing working relationship — not someone who disappears after a few projects or is constantly looking for the next gig.
The workload may vary from week to week, with opportunities for additional work during launches, Fashion Week, events, campaigns and other busy periods.
Finalists will complete a paid editing test using the type of footage they would actually work with.
To apply, please send:
Your portfolio or editing reel
3 to 5 examples of short-form videos you personally edited
Examples of talking-head content, if available
Examples that show storytelling and pacing, not only effects
What software you primarily edit in
Your typical turnaround time for a short-form video
Your current availability
Approximately how many short-form videos you can realistically edit per week
A short explanation of your editing process
Why you are interested in an ongoing team role rather than only one-off freelance projects
Please also tell me specifically what parts of the sample videos you edited yourself.
Use the word Tan in your subject line so I know you read the full post.
Please do not apply with a portfolio made primarily from templates, AI-generated edits or videos where it is unclear what work you personally completed.
