About the Role
We build and support point of sale systems for restaurants and bars in the United States. We've been doing this for 20 years, and this year we're beginning an aggressive growth push.
That's where you come in. This is a key position — we need someone who can carry real workload so we can take on more clients without dropping the ball on the ones we have. As the company grows, this role grows with it.
When a restaurant signs on with us, someone has to take their paper menu and turn it into a working POS system — every item, every modifier, every price, every button.
That's half of this job.
You'll be programming menus in restaurant POS software from start to finish. This is detail work. A misplaced modifier or a wrong tax setting means a server can't ring in an order during a Friday dinner rush, so accuracy matters more than speed here.
The other half is support. Between menu builds, you'll be working our support queue in our CRM — taking POS-related tickets from restaurant clients, troubleshooting what you can resolve remotely, and escalating what you can't. Restaurants run on tight margins and short tempers during service, so clear, calm, fast responses matter.
The two halves work well together: the more menus you build, the better you get at diagnosing what's wrong when a client calls in.
There's also a path forward here. Once you're trained up and confident in the system, we'll bring you onto our business phone line to handle client calls directly. We won't push you onto the phones before you're ready — but if you want that responsibility, it's there.
This is a long-term position with steady work. We're looking for someone who wants to build real expertise in restaurant technology, not a short-term contract.
What You'll Do
Menu Programming
Build complete menu databases from client-provided menus (PDFs, spreadsheets, photos of printed menus)
Create and organize menu categories, items, and pricing
Program modifier groups and forced modifiers (temperature, sides, substitutions, add-ons, upcharges)
Set up price levels and time-based pricing — happy hour, lunch vs. dinner pricing, day-of-week specials
Configure tax settings by item category
Design and lay out POS screen buttons so servers can find things quickly
Set up routing so items print to the correct kitchen printer or appear on the correct kitchen display screen
Build discount and comp buttons per client specifications
Test menus thoroughly before go-live and fix what doesn't work
Make menu updates and seasonal changes for existing clients
Keep clean documentation of each client's menu build
Support Tickets
Monitor and work POS-related support tickets in our CRM throughout the day
Respond to client tickets promptly and professionally in clear written English
Troubleshoot common POS issues remotely — pricing errors, items not routing correctly, button and screen problems, user permission issues, report questions
Gather the right information up front so tickets don't bounce back and forth (location, terminal, what happened, when it started, what changed)
Resolve what you can and escalate what you can't, with clean notes so nothing gets re-diagnosed from scratch
Log resolutions in the CRM and keep ticket status current
Flag recurring issues so we can fix the root cause instead of the symptom
What We're Looking For
Required:
Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with restaurant POS systems — programming, configuration, support, or restaurant management where you did the menu programming
Strong attention to detail. This is the single most important trait for this role.
Comfortable working in database-style software with lots of fields and settings
Strong written English — you'll be writing directly to US restaurant owners and managers in support tickets. Your writing needs to be clear, correct, and professional.
Comfortable juggling two types of work in one day — focused build work and reactive tickets
Willing to grow into phone support. Spoken English needs to be good enough that, with training and time, you'd be comfortable on a call with a US restaurant owner.
Reliable internet and a computer that can handle remote desktop sessions
Able to work the 3:00 PM – 12:00 AM US Central schedule consistently
Nice to Have:
Direct experience with Focus POS
Experience with other POS platforms (Toast, Aloha, Micros, SpotOn, Square for Restaurants, etc.)
Prior helpdesk, technical support, or ticketing experience
Experience with any CRM or ticketing system (Zoho, HubSpot, Zendesk, Freshdesk, ServiceTitan, etc.)
Restaurant work experience — you understand what a modifier actually means to a server on the floor
Experience with kitchen display systems (KDS) and printer routing
Basic Excel or Google Sheets skills
What It's Like to Work With Us
20 years in business. We're established, stable, and not going anywhere.
Your work is rewarded directly. On top of your monthly base, you earn a bonus for every POS system you complete, plus performance bonuses. Do more good work, earn more.
Clear instructions and defined specs for each build
Direct communication — you'll always know who to ask when something isn't clear
Consistent full-time hours, paid on time, every time
Real room to grow. We're expanding this year, and the person in this seat will grow with the company — starting with phone support and moving into other areas of our technology work.
