JOB OVERVIEW

We're hiring on behalf of a fast-growing fresh food brand supplying leading UK supermarkets, including Tesco, Sainsbury's and Ocado.

They're looking for an Operations and Supply Chain Lead to take full ownership of the business's day to day operations, covering order and production coordination, logistics and cold chain, and retailer compliance and data integrity, so the founding team can focus on growth.

The product has a short shelf life, so timing matters here more than in most ops roles. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives inside structured systems, makes calls quickly, and is comfortable building process rather than just following it.

Orders and production
- Clearing exceptions from stock allocation quickly, and fine-tuning best-before dates against orders to cut waste
- Managing purchase orders and coordinating production planning with the manufacturer
- Running day to day invoicing checks

Logistics and cold chain
- Booking and coordinating collections with the logistics partner
- Managing warehouse transfers
- Keeping cold chain compliance proactive, not reactive

Waste and retailer compliance
This is the area with the most room to make an impact, and currently the least owned.
- Making short-dated stock decisions: clearance or redistribution
- Tracking on-time-in-full (OTIF) performance and managing retailer scorecards
- Reviewing and disputing fines or charge-backs before they compound

Data and customer service
- Keeping inventory data accurate: products, recipes, stock adjustments
- Handling day to day retailer queries
- Allocating logistics costs correctly

What we're looking for
- A strong background in operations or supply chain, ideally FMCG or another product based business, preferably within a UK business setting
- Comfortable making judgement calls under time pressure, particularly around short-dated stock and service issues
- Confident with numbers, able to sanity check stock counts, invoices and OTIF or fines figures without hand-holding
- Clear, proactive communicator who flags issues early rather than letting them sit
- Genuinely comfortable with ambiguity: several of the processes here don't exist in mature form yet, so you'll be building SOPs as well as running them

Systems you'll use
- An inventory or ERP system such as Unleashed, Cin7, DEAR or Katana
- Notion, for logging and reference
- Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint)
- Comfortable working with AI tools day to day

Nice to have
- Experience with UK grocery retail or FMCG supply chains
- Familiarity with food safety frameworks such as HACCP or BRC/SALSA
- Exposure to cloud accounting software and dashboard tools like Power BI

This is a fully remote, full-time position working UK business hours from 6 am - 3 pm UK time. To be considered for this role, you must have:
