We run four businesses under one roof: a premium home-décor e-commerce brand (25+ years, our own Florida warehouse), a wholesale trade division, and three Florida self-storage / warehouse properties. We're a small team. Owners are still the escalation point for too many hard cases — we're hiring you so that stops.
Read this carefully
This is a working Operations Manager seat, not a dashboard job. About half your week you oversee a small remote CS/ops team. The other half you personally finish the work that takes judgment: chargebacks, freight paperwork, carrier claims, marketplace messes, customer and property escalations where the SOP ends.
If you want to invent 50 KPIs, build scorecards nobody uses, and "monitor" instead of close — stop here. We already tried that. We need a doer with brain power: escalate cleanly when you must, d
What you will actually do
The team (about half your time)
• Oversee a small remote team across e-commerce and our storage properties
• Daily check-ins and weekly one-on-ones that unblock work — not status theater
• Own scheduling/coverage, onboarding against written procedures, cross-training so nothing has a single point of failure
• Quality-review emails/chats/calls and coach on specifics
• Document performance problems in writing, on time; recommend when someone isn't working out (final call is ours)
Building how we work
• Design workflows for work that currently has none
• Keep procedures current — when reality changes, the doc changes
• Find recurring breaks and fix the cause (short checklist/SOP), not another metric
• Close gaps before we notice them
Hands-on work (about half your time)
• Chargebacks and payment disputes — file, evidence, follow-through
• BOLs and freight paperwork, inbound and outbound
• Carrier claims and delivery failures reps can't close
• Vendor/contractor invoice review — billed matches delivered
• Amazon / marketplace issues that need real problem-solving
• Customer and property escalations the team can't finish
• Whatever else needs a brain rather than a script
Reporting to ownership
• Weekly: what moved, what didn't, what needs a decision from us
• Bring decisions and options — not a wall of KPIs
Who this is for
• 2+ years managing or supervising people with real performance responsibility (hard conversations, documentation)
• You've finished hard ops cases yourself — not only delegated them
• E-commerce operations experience (Shopify or similar) strongly preferred
• Comfortable with numbers enough to spot what's wrong and act — not to invent vanity metrics
• Strong written and spoken English for US vendors, carriers, customers
• Willing to use time-tracking and manage a team that uses it
• US Eastern hours, Monday–Friday · no overlapping full-time job/client on those hours
Strongly preferred
• Chargebacks / payment disputes
• Freight, BOLs, carrier claims, or 3PL
• Amazon Seller Central
• Property management, self-storage, or leasing
• Writing procedures / building workflows from scratch
• Interviewing or onboarding remote staff
Not a fit if
• You only want to manage, delegate, and report
• You consider hands-on work beneath you
• Your first move is a 50-metric dashboard instead of closing the open case
• You've only managed by being liked
• AI or template applications

3) Leadership without theater: Team size. One time you coached or documented poor performance. What changed?
4) SOP gap: Work that had no clear procedure — what did you write or change so the next person could finish it?
