ABOUT US
We are a US based brand selling automotive covers and accessories. We sell through our own website and through Amazon and eBay.
POSITION OVERVIEW
We're looking for an experienced Online Reputation Management specialist to help strengthen our brand's presence across online communities and improve branded search results.
The primary focus of this role is monitoring and participating in relevant forums, identifying reputation risks, and helping legitimate positive or neutral content outrank negative search results over time.
This isn't primarily a customer-service or review-response position. Candidates should have direct experience with online communities, branded search results, content promotion, and ethical reputation-suppression strategies.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Community Forum Management
- Find relevant forums and online communities where customers discuss our brand, products, competitors, or industry.
- Monitor discussions for brand mentions, complaints, misinformation, product questions, and reputation risks.
- Participate through useful, natural, and non-promotional contributions.
- Draft thoughtful responses that don't sound defensive, scripted, or overly promotional.
- Identify forum discussions that rank for branded searches and recommend an appropriate response strategy.
- Track discussion URLs, dates, topics, responses, engagement, and search visibility.
- Escalate legal threats, safety complaints, refund disputes, coordinated attacks, or potentially defamatory content.
Branded Search and Reputation Suppression
- Monitor priority searches involving the brand name, reviews, complaints, scams, customer service, and relevant product terms.
- Identify negative URLs, their ranking positions, content types, authority, sentiment, and likelihood of being displaced.
- Help develop ethical suppression strategies using legitimate owned, earned, and third-party assets.
- Optimize company profiles, social profiles, business listings, articles, videos, interviews, and other brand-related assets.
- Coordinate the creation and promotion of useful branded content that can occupy additional first-page search positions.
- Monitor ranking changes and recommend adjustments based on actual performance.
- Distinguish between results that may be corrected, removed, responded to, deindexed, or outranked.
Content and Reputation Assets
- Develop content briefs for branded articles, FAQs, company profiles, interviews, case studies, customer stories, and expert content.
- Support legitimate third-party placements, contributor opportunities, interviews, partnerships, and company profiles.
- Improve the credibility of reputation assets through accurate company information, identifiable authorship, firsthand experience, original media, and expert commentary.
- Coordinate with SEO, content, customer service, and leadership when public responses or new assets require approval.
Monitoring and Reporting
- Track page-one and page-two results for priority branded searches.
- Monitor new forum discussions, articles, reviews, and brand mentions.
- Maintain a weekly tracker covering negative URL positions, positive and neutral assets on pages one and two, new brand mentions, discussions requiring action, assets created or optimized, ranking changes, open risks, and recommended next steps.
MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS
- At least two years of hands-on experience in online reputation management, community management, branded SEO, or search-result suppression.
- Direct experience monitoring and participating in established online forums or communities.
- Experience evaluating branded search results and tracking the positions of negative, positive, and neutral URLs.
- Strong written English and the ability to adapt to the tone and rules of different communities.
- Basic working knowledge of SEO, search intent, content optimization, links, authority, and indexing.
- Ability to recognize when a public response could make a situation worse and should be escalated.
- Strong research, documentation, organization, and reporting skills.
- Ability to provide specific examples of past work and clearly explain your individual contribution.
NICE-TO-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience managing ORM for an e-commerce or consumer brand.
- Experience improving branded search results through content, profiles, videos, digital PR, or legitimate third-party placements.
- Experience securing interviews, articles, contributor opportunities, citations, or editorial mentions.
- Familiarity with Google Business Profile, Trustpilot, BBB, social platforms, video platforms, and industry-specific forums.
- Experience using Ahrefs, Semrush, Google Search Console, rank-tracking platforms, or brand-monitoring tools.
- Knowledge of on-page SEO, internal linking, digital PR, entity optimization, and content distribution.
- Experience working with customer-service teams on complaint escalation and resolution.
PROHIBITED TACTICS
We're only interested in legitimate, sustainable reputation-management practices. The following tactics aren't permitted:
- Fake customer accounts or fabricated personal identities
- Fake reviews, testimonials, or customer experiences
- Review gating or incentives offered only for positive reviews
- Mass forum posting, automated comments, or spam links
- Harassment, intimidation, or coordinated reporting campaigns
- Misrepresenting an affiliation with the company
- Publishing false allegations about competitors
- Promising guaranteed removals or guaranteed ranking results
Candidates should be comfortable disclosing a company affiliation when required by a platform or when the relationship would materially affect how readers interpret a recommendation.
PERFORMANCE MEASURES
- Movement of priority negative URLs in branded search results
- Growth of legitimate positive and neutral assets on page one
- Quality and relevance of community participation
- Reputation risks identified before they escalate
- Accuracy and completeness of weekly reporting
- Quality of content, profile, and placement recommendations
- Compliance with company and community guidelines
Search-result suppression isn't guaranteed and may require several months, depending on the authority of the negative result and the competitiveness of the branded search.
WORK ARRANGEMENT
- Remote, part-time contractor position
- 20 hours per week to start, Monday to Friday, 4 hours a day. Hours can increase up to 40 based on performance and workload
- Your 4 hours fall within 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM US Pacific Time (10:00 PM to 6:30 AM Philippine Time). The exact block is set with your manager once you start
- Paid through Wise, on schedule
- Weekly progress reporting is required
- Some daily monitoring of brand mentions and community discussions may be needed
- During the initial training period, public responses and activity in new communities need approval before they go out
A NOTE ON APPLYING
If you have not done something, just say so in your answers. "I have not done that" costs you nothing here. What does count against you is describing work you did not personally do.
The role starts at 20 hours and can grow to 40, with the rate reviewed as the scope grows.
HOW TO APPLY
Apply through OnlineJobs.ph or
Put COVERLAND at the start of your application, either in the subject line or as the first line of your message. Then answer all five questions below. Applications that skip questions, or answer in general terms without specific examples, will not be reviewed.
1. Brand and Project Scope
Describe one brand for which you personally handled online reputation management. Include:
- The industry or business type
- The month and year you started and finished
- Your exact responsibilities
- The number of negative results appearing within the first two pages of Google when you started
- Whether you worked independently or as part of a team
You may omit or anonymize the brand name if required by a confidentiality agreement.
2. Search-Result Movement
Choose one negative URL from that project and provide:
- The type of website on which it appeared
- Its approximate starting Google position
- Its approximate ending position
- The amount of time required
- The specific tactics you personally implemented
- How you tracked and verified the ranking movement
Do not claim that a result was suppressed if it only moved temporarily or disappeared because of a search-location change.
3. Community Forum Experience
Describe one forum or online-community situation you personally managed. Include the type of community, what you posted or recommended, whether you disclosed the brand relationship, and the outcome.
4. Strategy Scenario
A negative forum discussion ranks fourth when someone searches for a company's brand name. The discussion is several years old, but the forum has strong authority and the thread still receives occasional comments.
Explain how you would evaluate the result and what you would prioritize during the first 30, 60, and 90 days. Identify anything you would avoid doing and explain why.
5. Tools and Reporting
List the SEO, monitoring, community, and reporting tools you've used, and what you would include in a weekly ORM report. If available, attach a redacted example of a report or ranking tracker you personally prepared.
Please attach your resume.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a two-hour assessment. It is paid, whether or not you move forward.
