CurioKids teaches children aged 4 to 12 in Singapore and Malaysia to read and speak English through live, 1-to-1 online lessons. Every child starts with our Phonics Starter, learning to read sound by sound using the UK Letters and Sounds method, then moves on to our CEFR-aligned English course.
We launch on 2 November 2026 and are building our founding team of teachers. You will be trained directly by our Head of Curriculum, an experienced phonics teacher.
THE ROLE
Teach live 25-minute 1-to-1 phonics and English lessons to children aged 4 to 12.
Run free trial lessons, including a friendly introduction, a quick assessment of the child's phonics knowledge and a short summary for parents
Write brief notes after every lesson and help prepare progress updates for parents
Record a short "Meet the Teacher" video for our website, as parents choose their own teacher
Cover lessons for colleagues when needed
Follow our safeguarding rules in every lesson
Join weekly team meetings, training and lesson reviews

HOW TO APPLY
Please send:
Your CV
Your TEFL or TESOL certificate
A 1-minute video introducing yourself as if you were meeting a 5-year-old student
Start your application with the words "Phonics Teacher" so we know you have read this post.
Please also confirm your availability to work evening shifts and weekends.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a video interview. Before your interview, you will complete a short challenge:
Write a lesson plan showing how you would teach a 25-minute phonics lesson to a 5-year-old. Please include:
The sound you are teaching and what the child should be able to do by the end
A warm-up or review of sounds they already know
How you will introduce the new sound (show us you use pure sounds, for example "sss" not "suh")
A blending activity with simple words
A short game to keep the child engaged
A quick check to see what the child has learned
How long each part will take
Be ready to talk us through your plan in the interview.
Successful applicants will need to pass an NBI clearance check, sign an independent contractor agreement and join our paid training before starting their first lessons.
