We're looking for an Motion Design Artist with Strong Specialty in After Effects to join Jeong X. This is a hands-on After Effects + motion design role working alongside our team of editors — your job is to use your creativity to create visuals that tell the story and elevate the educational and narrative value of every video we produce.
From Netflix-level documentaries to high-performing YouTube videos, you'll design and animate the graphics, motion, and new assets that turn a solid cut into a premium, polished piece. If you love the craft of designing and animating in AE — creating new assets from scratch, 3D camera work, compositing, and finishing — this role is built for you.

## What you'll build — a few examples
These aren't the whole job — they're a sense of the kinds of assets you'll create. Day to day, you'll use your own eye and creativity to design visuals that carry the story and make each video clearer and more engaging:
1. **Designed visual containers** — designing and building frames and containers in After Effects that hold lower-resolution or archival footage, so it sits cleanly in a Netflix-level piece. The footage should feel intentional and designed, never like a low-res clip dropped on screen.
2. **Animated maps** — one of the more complex and important builds. Designing and animating map sequences with 3D camera moves, detailed keyframing, and multi-layer compositions that guide the viewer through locations and journeys. Comfort designing in 3D space, camera animation, and layered comps in AE is essential.
3. **Tilt-shift & blur maps** — creating custom depth-of-field / tilt-shift and blur passes scene by scene. Each scene gets its own blur map, so this takes a careful, consistent eye and real patience for detail across many shots.
Beyond examples like these, you'll design and animate whatever a piece needs to tell its story well — titles, lower-thirds, transitions, custom graphic elements — always in service of the story and the viewer's understanding.
## What we're looking for (required)
- Deep After Effects skill with a real motion design sensibility — designing and animating new assets, 3D camera and keyframe animation, multi-layer compositions, compositing, and finishing.
- A storyteller's instinct — you use visuals to make ideas clearer and more engaging, elevating the educational and narrative value of a video rather than just decorating it.
- Direct experience animating maps or complex 3D-camera sequences in AE. Point us to examples in your reel.
- A premium, cinematic eye — you understand what makes motion design and footage read as "high-end" versus amateur.
- A good sense of sound design — you understand how sound and motion work together, and how audio lifts the quality of VFX and motion graphics. You won't be the sole audio person, but this sensibility matters.
- After Effects + motion design experience across both social / YouTube and long-form work (show us both).
- Precision and patience for repetitive, detail-critical work (like per-scene blur maps) without the quality slipping.
- Able to work remotely alongside an editor — take direction, turn notes around quickly, and hit deadlines.
- A portfolio or reel that demonstrates the above (link required).
## Nice to have
- 3D beyond AE — Cinema 4D, Blender, or Element 3D.
- Compositing depth: tracking, rotoscoping, keying, and cleanup.
- Strong design chops — comfortable creating assets in Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Sound design or audio editing experience.
- Familiarity with Premiere Pro and/or DaVinci Resolve for hand-off with our editor.
- Experience in a documentary, film, or long-form / YouTube environment.
## Tools you'll use
Adobe After Effects (primary — this is 90% of the role), plus Premiere Pro / Photoshop / Illustrator; 3D tools (Cinema 4D / Blender / Element 3D) a strong plus.
