**Role:** Mobile UX Specialist
**Mission:** We're on a mission to make Raycon the most loved electronics brand in the world, where every product feels joyful, effortless, and personal. Our apps are where that promise gets tested every day: pairing, setup, controls, and features customers touch dozens of times a week. We're hiring a Mobile UX Specialist to own how every Raycon app feels - setting the experience direction, not just executing screens - and to ship mobile experiences that set the bar in consumer tech.
**Growth:** Profitable growth with 5M+ customers, international expansion underway, and a fast-growing app and AI device portfolio, including Raycon Notes.
**Location:** Remote, based in the Philippines. Contractor engagement with required working-hour overlap with our US (Eastern Time) team.
**Compensation:** 18 hours per week (2 days a week). $200 USD/month. This is an independent contractor engagement.
**Team:** Reports to Software Product Engineer. Works daily with our mobile engineers and product designers, and with Product on requirements and acceptance.
**Scope:** Every Raycon app surface. Raycon Notes today, Raycon Tunes as it comes online, and the unified Raycon app they merge into. Covers in-app experience, onboarding and pairing, subscription and paywall flows, notification and firmware-update prompts, accessibility, and app store presence.
**Why Now:** Our app portfolio is growing and consolidating at the same time. Engineers are shipping quickly, but flows, states, and interaction details don't always get the attention they deserve, and nobody owns a point of view on where our app experience should go next. This role closes both gaps: one person who owns how our apps feel, makes sure the details land in the build, and brings evidenced proposals into the roadmap rather than waiting to be handed tickets.
**You'd Be a Fit If You Have:**
- 2+ years of UX or product design experience on shipped iOS and Android apps, ideally consumer-facing
- A portfolio showing mobile flows end to end: problem, research, wireframes, prototypes, and the shipped result
- Strong Figma skills: components, auto layout, variants, interactive prototypes, and clean developer handoff
- Working knowledge of Apple Human Interface Guidelines and Material Design, and the judgment to know when to follow them and when to bend them
- Experience working directly with developers: writing clear specs, answering questions fast, and reviewing builds against designs
- Comfort running lightweight usability tests and turning findings into concrete changes
- A feel for accessibility: contrast, touch targets, dynamic type, screen readers
- The judgment to design for uncertainty - communicating confidence, incompleteness, and failure honestly in an AI product
- Strong written and spoken English, and the ability to work reliable overlap hours with a US team
- A strong bias for speed and urgency, paired with high attention to detail
**Nice to Have:**
- Experience designing companion apps for connected or Bluetooth hardware (earbuds, wearables, smart devices)
- Experience with design systems or building component libraries
- Fluency with AI features in Figma - Figma Make, AI-assisted component and variant generation, prompt-driven prototyping - and a view on where they speed real work up and where they don't
- Basic front-end or React Native familiarity, enough to talk implementation trade-offs with engineers
- Motion and micro-interaction design (Figma prototyping, Lottie, Principle)
**Key Responsibilities:**
- **Own the Mobile Experience:** Design and refine user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity screens across Raycon's mobile apps, keeping every experience approachable and easy to use
- **Own Feature Direction:** Hold an argued, evidenced point of view on where our app experience is strong and where it has fallen behind. Turn it into prioritized proposals and raise them into the roadmap. We want a position, supported by evidence, not a backlog of preferences
- **Partner with Developers:** Deliver clear, build-ready specs and Figma handoff. Sit close to engineering, answer questions quickly, and review builds to catch UX gaps before release
- **Partner with Designers:** Work with our product and brand designers so the apps look and feel unmistakably Raycon, and contribute to a shared mobile component library
- **Own the Mobile Design System:** Maintain the shared component library across Raycon apps, keeping it coherent as the portfolio consolidates
- **Design Every State:** Onboarding, pairing, empty, loading, error, offline, and permission states. On a hardware product these are the experience, not edge cases
- **Test and Iterate:** Run quick usability tests, review app store reviews and support tickets, and turn what customers struggle with into prioritized fixes
- **Raise the Standard:** Benchmark against industry-leading consumer apps, apply platform best practices, and champion accessibility and simplicity in every review
**A Day in the Life:** Sample projects may include the below.
- Redesigning first-time pairing so a new customer connects in under a minute without reading instructions
- Designing the "transfer interrupted" and "storage full" states that engineering flagged as missing
- Reviewing a TestFlight build side by side with Figma and logging the gaps for developers
- Running five quick usability sessions on a new settings screen and simplifying it based on what you saw
- Turning a cluster of one-star reviews into a specific UX fix and shipping it with engineering
**What Success Looks Like:**
- Core flows (onboarding, pairing, key features) are measurably faster and simpler, with fewer drop-offs
- App store ratings and review sentiment on usability improve release over release
- Developers get build-ready specs the first time, with fewer back-and-forth cycles and fewer UX bugs in QA
- Every screen has its unhappy states designed, so customers never land in a dead end
- A shared mobile component library is in use across Raycon apps
**Why Work at Raycon:**
- Impact: Your work is what 5M+ customers see and touch every day
- Autonomy: Own the mobile UX with real decision-making power
- Team: Grounded, ambitious, and kind coworkers who get sh*t done
**Company Values:**
- Customer First
- Think Big
- Raise the Bar Every Day
- GSD: Get Sh*t Done
**What to Expect in the Process:**
1. Hiring Manager Interview: A deeper dive into your portfolio and prior experience, aligning on vision, values, and impact
2. Case Study: A practical mobile UX exercise designed to highlight how you think and create
3. Leadership Chat: A conversation with our senior Product leader and Brand leader to align on expectations and growth
