JOB OVERVIEW

Justin Primary & Pediatric Care is looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Referral & Prior Authorization Specialist to join our growing medical office. This position will be responsible for coordinating insurance authorizations and patient referrals while ensuring timely communication between patients, insurance companies, specialists, and our clinical team.

Responsibilities
Process and submit insurance prior authorizations for medications, procedures, imaging, and services
Track authorization requests and follow up with insurance companies as needed
Obtain and verify insurance information and benefits
Coordinate specialist referrals for pediatric and primary care patients
Send referral documentation, medical records, demographics, and insurance information to specialist offices
Follow up with specialist offices regarding referral status and appointment scheduling
Communicate with patients regarding referral and authorization updates
Document authorization and referral information accurately in the patient's medical record
Monitor pending referrals and prior authorizations to ensure timely completion
Communicate with providers and medical assistants regarding authorization requirements and referral needs
Assist with obtaining clinical documentation required by insurance companies
Maintain organized records and follow office policies regarding patient privacy and HIPAA
Provide excellent customer service to patients and outside offices
Qualifications
Previous experience in a medical office, referrals, prior authorizations, or insurance verification preferred
Knowledge of insurance plans, referrals, and authorization processes
Experience with eClinicalWorks (eCW) required
Strong computer and organizational skills
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to multitask and prioritize in a busy medical office
Professional communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Pediatric or primary care experience is a plus
