Medical Virtual Assistant – Prior Authorization & Billing Support (Athena EHR)
Salary: $5.00–$7.00/hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM MDT

We're hiring an experienced Medical Virtual Assistant to support a U.S.-based mobile primary and palliative care practice serving primarily senior patients.
The role will focus on prior authorizations, medical billing/claims resolution, Athena EHR workflows, and patient administrative support.
What You'll Do
* Manage prior authorizations from submission through approval/denial
* Track and follow up on pending authorizations
* Review denied claims, claim holds, and billing discrepancies
* Assist with medical billing and claims resolution
* Manage faxes, orders, and documentation through **Athena EHR**
* Handle overflow patient calls, scheduling requests, and refill coordination
* Communicate with patients through Spruce
* Coordinate with medical assistants and other healthcare team members
MUST-HAVE Qualifications
Hands-on Athena EHR / athenahealth experience – REQUIRED**
Primary care experience – REQUIRED**
Hands-on prior authorization experience – REQUIRED**
Medical billing, claims processing, denied claims, or claims resolution experience**
Previous Medical Virtual Assistant or healthcare administrative experience**
Strong understanding of healthcare administrative workflows
Excellent spoken and written English
Professional and patient-friendly phone communication
Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
Preferred Qualifications
* Spruce Health experience
* Experience with Athena faxes, orders, and claim holds
* Home health, mobile primary care, palliative care, or geriatric care experience
* Experience supporting elderly patients
