Medical Biller and Coder
Interview Process:
Candidates selected to move forward will complete a written exercise, followed by two rounds of interviews.
About Clarity Works
Clarity Works helps medical practices recover revenue, reduce billing delays, work denials, and improve revenue cycle performance. We are looking for an experienced Medical Biller and Coder who can manage complex billing workflows, own client work, and help create cleaner, repeatable processes.
Role Overview
This is not an entry-level role. We are looking for someone with at least 7 years of medical billing and coding experience, preferably in a senior, lead, or supervisory role.
The right candidate is a self-starter who can work in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction. This person must be able to create claims from scratch, not just work existing claims. They should be comfortable owning assigned clients, identifying problems, working through billing issues, and documenting processes clearly.
Responsibilities
* Create, review, correct, and submit medical claims
* Build claims from scratch using documentation, codes, payer rules, and billing requirements
* Work denials, rejections, underpayments, and aged A/R
* Review documentation and assign or validate appropriate codes
* Identify billing, coding, payer, and workflow issues
* Follow up with payers on claim status, denials, and payment issues
* Review EOBs, ERAs, and payer correspondence
* Support payment posting and account reconciliation when needed
* Own assigned client workflows and communicate updates, blockers, and next steps
* Problem-solve issues independently before escalating
* Create SOPs for new systems, workflows, and client-specific processes
* Work across different EHR, PM, clearinghouse, and payer portal systems
* Help improve internal billing processes as the company grows
Requirements
* Minimum 7 years of medical billing and coding experience
* Prior experience in a senior, lead, or high-responsibility billing role preferred
* Strong denial management and A/R follow-up experience
* Ability to create claims from scratch, not just correct or resubmit existing claims
* Experience working in multiple EHR, PM, clearinghouse, and payer portal systems
* Strong understanding of claim submission, coding, payer rules, EOBs, ERAs, and reimbursement workflows
* Ability to work independently with minimal direction
* Comfortable owning client work and taking initiative
* Able to work in a fast-paced environment
* Proactive, organized, and solutions-oriented
* Strong written and verbal English communication skills
* Comfortable creating SOPs and documenting processes
* Detail-oriented, reliable, and accountable
Preferred Experience
* Certified coder preferred, but not required with strong experience
* Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers
* Experience supporting multiple specialties
* Experience working in a billing company, RCM company, or multi-client environment
* Experience training or supporting other billers
Schedule
Part-time in the beginning with move to full time eventually
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for a seasoned biller and coder who can take ownership, move quickly, problem-solve, and manage client work without constant oversight. This role is best for someone who has already handled complex billing environments and does not need beginner-level training.
