About the Role
We're a merchant cash advance company looking for a skilled underwriter to join our team. You'll be responsible for reviewing MCA applications, analyzing merchant financials, assessing risk, and making funding recommendations. This is a high-volume, fast-paced role where speed and accuracy both matter. You'll work directly with our sales and funding teams to move deals through the pipeline efficiently.
What You'll Do
Review and analyze incoming MCA applications and supporting documents
Examine 3–6 months of business bank statements to evaluate cash flow, daily balances, and revenue trends
Identify red flags such as NSFs, negative balances, stacking, and undisclosed positions
Calculate key metrics including average daily balance, monthly revenue, and deposit consistency
Determine funding amounts, hold-back percentages, and terms based on risk assessment
Issue approvals, declines, or request additional documentation with clear reasoning
Communicate underwriting decisions to the sales team with turnaround expectations
Maintain accurate records and notes in the CRM/underwriting platform
Meet daily volume targets (typically 15–25+ applications per day)
Stay current on MCA industry trends, compliance requirements, and risk factors
Requirements
Must-haves:
2+ years of hands-on MCA or alternative lending underwriting experience
Strong ability to read and interpret business bank statements quickly
Understanding of MCA-specific risk factors — stacking, split funding, seasonal businesses, etc.
Experience calculating daily balances, average monthly revenue, and position exposure
High attention to detail with the ability to spot inconsistencies and fraud indicators
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Reliable internet connection and quiet workspace
Available during US business hours (at least 9 AM–5 PM EST)
Strong written English for internal communication and deal notes
Nice-to-haves:
Experience with underwriting tools like DecisionLogic, Plaid, Ocrolus, or LendingFront
Familiarity with CRMs such as Salesforce, HubSpot, or industry-specific platforms
Background in other alternative lending products (revenue-based financing, business lines of credit, equipment financing)
Experience training or mentoring junior underwriters
Knowledge of UCC filings and lien searches
What We Offer
Stable, long-term full-time position — not a short-term project
Clear underwriting guidelines and support — you won't be guessing
Opportunity to grow into a senior or lead underwriter role
A team that values speed, good judgment, and reliability
