JOB OVERVIEW

I’m looking for a reliable and skilled video editor to join my faceless YouTube history/documentary channel for a long-term collaboration.

The channel focuses on fascinating historical stories about royal families, fallen empires, dynasties, lost fortunes, wealth, power, and what happened to powerful families after their empires disappeared.

Videos are generally 15–20 minutes long, and I plan to publish approximately 2–3 videos per week.

I’m looking for an editor who can work with me consistently long-term, handle this schedule reliably, and maintain good quality across every video.

Editing Style

I’m looking for a serious, cinematic historical documentary style with strong visual storytelling.

This is NOT a basic stock-footage editing job.

The visuals should closely match what is being said in the narration. The viewer should feel like they are actually being taken through the historical story.

The main visual foundation should be authentic historical/archival material whenever possible, including:

* Historical photographs
* Archival footage
* Paintings and illustrations
* Historical maps
* Newspapers
* Documents and letters
* Portraits of the people being discussed
* Palaces, estates and relevant historical locations
* Other authentic historical material relevant to the narration

AI-generated visuals may be used only when necessary and as a supplement. They should not become the main visual source.

The overall result should feel like a real historical documentary rather than an AI slideshow or collection of unrelated stock footage.

Your Responsibilities

You should be able to take a script and handle the complete production/editing workflow, including:

* Researching and sourcing relevant historical/archival visuals
* Closely matching visuals to the script and narration
* Editing the complete 15–20 minute video
* Creating strong pacing and visual variety
* Using subtle zooms, pans and movement where appropriate
* Adding clean, professional static subtitles
* Adding appropriate background music and SFX
* Properly balancing voice-over, music and SFX
* Using clean, professional transitions without over-editing
* Using copyright-safe, public-domain or appropriately licensed visual/audio material
* Providing source/license information when requested
* Creating an AI voice-over when required
* Delivering the final video in 1080p
* Completing 1–2 reasonable revision rounds

Experience with ElevenLabs or similar AI voice-over tools is a plus.

What I DON’T Want

Please do not apply if your editing mainly consists of:

* Random stock footage
* Visuals that don’t closely match the narration
* AI-generated images throughout the entire video
* Low-effort AI slideshows
* Repetitive visuals
* Watermarked or low-quality footage
* Excessive transitions/effects
* Meme-style editing
* Flashy TikTok-style editing
* Karaoke/word-by-word animated subtitles

I prefer clean, restrained and professional documentary editing over unnecessary effects.

Workload & Long-Term Collaboration

I plan to publish approximately 2–3 videos per week.

This is not intended to be a one-time project. I’m looking for one reliable editor who is interested in consistent weekly work and a long-term collaboration.

You should realistically be able to maintain the required quality while working toward this upload schedule.

If the channel grows and our collaboration works well, there may be opportunities for increased rates and additional work over time.

Budget

My current starting budget is:

$15–$20 USD fixed per completed 15–20 minute video.

This includes the complete editing package described above.

Please only apply if you are genuinely comfortable starting within this budget.

What I’m Looking For

Ideally, you:

* Have experience editing YouTube videos
* Have experience with documentary, history or faceless YouTube content
* Have strong visual storytelling skills
* Understand YouTube viewer retention
* Are good at researching and sourcing historical material
* Can accurately match visuals to narration
* Have good English comprehension
* Can follow scripts and reference videos accurately
* Deliver consistent quality
* Meet agreed deadlines
* Communicate clearly and reliably
* Inform me early if there are delays or problems
* Are interested in consistent, long-term work

Selection Process

Shortlisted applicants may be asked to complete a short 60–90 second test edit before I select an editor for full-length projects.

I will provide a script and a reference video showing the documentary style I’m looking for.

Depending on the test, you may also be asked to create the AI voice-over based on the narration style of the reference.

The test will be used to evaluate:

* Historical/archival visual sourcing
* Visual-to-narration matching
* Historical relevance of the visuals
* Pacing and storytelling
* Subtitles
* Music and sound design
* Overall documentary atmosphere
* Attention to detail
* Overall editing quality

The goal is not to copy the reference video exactly, but to reach or exceed its overall level of documentary storytelling, visual relevance and polish.

Please only agree to the test if you are genuinely interested in continuing at the stated starting budget if selected.

Successful candidates may move on to regular 15–20 minute videos, approximately 2–3 times per week.

How to Apply

Please answer all of the following:

1. Give me a short introduction about yourself.
2. Send links to 2–3 of your best documentary, history or faceless YouTube edits. Please send your most relevant work, not your entire portfolio.
3. Explain exactly which parts of those videos you personally handled.
4. What editing software do you use?
5. How long do you normally need to complete one 15–20 minute video at this quality?
6. Can you handle the complete workflow described in this job post?
7. Can you independently research and source copyright-safe/public-domain historical and archival material?
8. Are you comfortable with the $15–$20 fixed starting budget per completed video?
9. Are you willing to complete the short 60–90 second test edit before being selected?
10. Can you consistently deliver 2–3 completed 15–20 minute videos per week while maintaining the required quality?
11. Are you interested in a long-term collaboration with consistent weekly work?

IMPORTANT: Start your application with the word “ZMB” so I know you have read the entire job post.

Applications that do not start with ZMB or do not answer the questions above may not be considered.

I’m looking for someone who is reliable, communicates well, cares about quality, pays attention to the story, and wants to grow with the channel long-term.
