JOB OVERVIEW

About the role
I am looking for an experienced Video Podcast Editor to work with me on a new guest interview series.
This is intended to be a long-term freelance opportunity for the right person.
I am recruiting and shortlisting now, with a paid trial planned for October 2026. If the trial is successful, I would like to continue working together on an ongoing basis.
The podcast will initially be around 1 episode per month, with the potential to increase over time.

What you'll be editing
The content will primarily consist of guest interviews and conversations.
Recordings may be:
Multi-camera studio recordings
Remote recordings
You will receive the raw footage and be responsible for turning it into polished, professional content for YouTube and short-form platforms.

Main responsibilities
Long-form video
You will be responsible for:
Editing multi-camera footage
Syncing and cleaning audio
Choosing the appropriate camera angles
Removing mistakes, awkward pauses and unnecessary sections
Maintaining natural and engaging pacing
Basic colour correction
Audio balancing and cleanup
Adding provided intro/outro and branding
Adding guest name/title graphics where required
Exporting the final YouTube video
The editing should feel clean, professional and engaging.
I do not want excessive transitions, distracting effects or overly complicated editing.

Short-form content
Short-form editing will be an important part of the role.
For each podcast episode, you will be expected to identify strong moments from the conversation and turn them into engaging short-form videos for:
YouTube Shorts
Instagram Reels
TikTok
This will include:
Selecting strong moments/hooks
Creating vertical edits
Captions/subtitles
Appropriate pacing
Basic graphics where appropriate
Making the clips engaging without over-editing them
The exact number of clips will depend on the episode and the quality of the content. I am looking for someone who can use their own judgement to identify the strongest moments.

Experience required
You must have experience with:
Video podcast editing
Interview editing
Multi-camera editing
YouTube long-form content
Short-form vertical content
Experience editing podcasts with multiple camera angles is particularly important.
Please provide examples of podcasts or interviews you have personally edited.
Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro or similar professional editing software is preferred.

Working arrangement
This will be a freelance hourly position.
Please provide your hourly rate in your application.
The initial workload will likely be around 1 episode per month, with the potential to increase as the series develops.
I am open to someone working flexible hours, provided deadlines are met and communication is reliable.

Paid trial
I plan to conduct a paid trial edit in October 2026.
The trial will involve editing a section of podcast/interview footage so I can assess:
Editing quality
Multi-camera editing
Audio quality
Pacing
Short-form editing ability
Ability to follow instructions
Communication and turnaround time
The trial will be paid.
If the trial is successful, I would like to move into an ongoing working relationship.
