Long-Form Video Editor (DaVinci Resolve) - YouTube
**Remote · Ongoing contract · Async, no live calls required**
THE ROLE
We're looking for one thing done exceptionally well: turning raw talking-head and B-roll footage into finished 7–15 minute YouTube videos for a founder-led cycling channel.
This is a long-form editing role. Not a do-everything content role. If you're strong at story structure, pacing, sound, and clean motion graphics, this is a straightforward, repeatable gig.
**Volume:** 1–2 videos per month to start. The goal is to build toward a steady bi-weekly, then weekly, cadence as the partnership proves out — so we're looking for someone who wants an ongoing seat, not a one-off.
WHAT ONE PROJECT MEANS
To be clear about what you're quoting on, one project = **one finished long-form YouTube video**:
- Source footage: **under 1 hour total**, organized, labeled, and packaged by us — you're not sifting through a card dump
- Deliverable: one 7–15 minute edited video, color graded, sound designed, music bedded
- Motion graphics: animated title cards, lower thirds, and simple on-screen text/graphics as the story calls for (typically 3–6 per video)
- Revisions: 2 rounds included
- Provided by us: script/outline, footage, music and SFX licenses, brand assets, and a Loom walkthrough of the intended story
Thumbnails and short-form clips are **not** part of this role.
PAY & PROCESS
**Step 1 — Paid trial edit: for flat fee One complete video or portion of video. Real footage, real deadline, real feedback. You get paid whether or not we continue.
**Step 2 — Ongoing per-video rate.** If the trial goes well, we set the ongoing rate together based on what the first edit actually took. As the cadence moves from monthly to bi-weekly to weekly, we expect the rate to move with the commitment.
We pay on time, every time, via [Wise / PayPal / preferred method].
TURNAROUND
We're building toward a predictable rhythm rather than a rush. Right now: **7 business days from footage handoff to first cut**, with revisions inside another 5 days. As we move to bi-weekly and then weekly, that window tightens and becomes a fixed schedule you can plan your month around. Tell us what turnaround is realistic for you — we'd rather set a pace you can hold than one you'll miss.
EDITING STYLE
Talking head and documentary-style, with occasional vlog. The edit should feel unhurried but tight — warm, cinematic, human.
- No flashy transitions. No hyperspeed jump-cut style.
- B-roll earns its place; it illustrates a point, it doesn't fill space.
- Sound is half the edit. Strong SFX work and music that carries the story, not decorates it.
- Think magazine, not vlog.
MUST HAVE
- **2–3 published long-form YouTube videos you personally edited** in a talking-head, documentary, or vlog style. For each one, tell us specifically what you handled (full edit? assembly only? graphics? sound?).
- **DaVinci Resolve** as your primary editor — you're comfortable in Fusion and Fairlight, not just the cut page.
- **Motion graphics and animated titles** you built yourself, in Fusion or After Effects.
- **Story instinct** — you can take an hour of raw material and find the 10-minute version that actually holds.
- **Sound design and music editing** — this is not an afterthought for us.
- **Strong written and spoken English.** All direction comes via async Loom; you'll reply the same way.
- Reliable internet, your own machine and software licenses.
NICE TO HAVE
- Ability to spot and cut short-form clips out of the long-form edit (we may add this as separately paid work later — mention it if you can do it, but it's not required to apply)
- Experience with outdoor, lifestyle, cycling, or endurance-sport content
- Color grading beyond a standard LUT

1. Links to 2–3 long-form videos you edited, with a line on each about what you specifically did
2. Which parts of the style described above come naturally to you — and which would be a stretch
3. Your DaVinci Resolve version, realistic turnaround for a project like this, and how many of these you could handle per month at full stride
We reply to everyone who follows those four steps.
