I’m looking for an editor who is really good at finding the **story inside long gaming streams**.
I recently took part in YourRAGE’s Cobbleverse event, a week-long Cobblemon server with around 100 streamers. I streamed 5 days of the event, and I want to turn those VODs into 5 strong YouTube videos for my live/gaming channel.
The VODs are several hours long. Your main job is to watch through each day, understand what actually happened, and cut it down into roughly a 45–90 minute video. However, the story d
This is not a flashy editing job. I don’t need constant subtitles, memes, sound effects, motion graphics, or crazy effects. I care much more about your judgment as an editor!
The biggest thing I’m looking for is someone who understands how to keep enough context for moments to actually land.
That can mean keeping things like:
* A quick line where I explain what I’m about to do
* The setup to a joke, not just the punchline
* Funny interactions with other streamers
* Progress toward an objective
* A failure that makes the eventual payoff better
* My reaction after something important happens
* A short transition that explains why I’m suddenly somewhere new
At the same time, you need to be aggressive about cutting things that don’t matter.
If I spend 15 minutes trying to catch a Pokémon, I probably don’t want all 15 minutes. Maybe we keep the setup, one or two important/funny attempts, the successful catch, my reaction, and then move on.
The goal is for someone who never watched the livestream to be able to watch the YouTube video and understand the journey of that day without feeling lost.
Because this is Cobblemon, knowing Pokémon is a big advantage. Being someone who genuinely watches gaming YouTube or Twitch is also a big plus.
**Premiere Pro is strongly preferred** because I want to receive the project/timeline afterward. You’ll also need a computer and internet connection capable of handling large VOD files.
This is currently a **5-video project**. If we work well together, I’d be happy to reach back out whenever I have another streaming event or similar project in the future.
The strongest applicants will be asked to do a short paid editing test using real footage from the event.
When you apply, keep it casual. I’d much rather hear how you actually think than read a long formal cover letter.
Please include:
1. The ONE video you’ve edited that best shows your ability to tell a story, and what you personally did on it.
2. Whether you’ve ever been given several hours of raw footage and had to d
3. A few gaming creators you genuinely watch.
4. How well you know Pokémon from 1–10.
5. If selected for the full project, roughly how quickly could you complete five VODs like this?
And start your application by telling me which Pokémon you would choose as your starter and why, so I know you read the full post ;)
