As a Logistics Coordinator, you will be responsible for coordinating and analyzing logistics operations across multiple transportation modes within the company’s third-party logistics (3PL) and fulfillment business. This role requires strong analytical, data, and math skills, with frequent use of Excel and internal systems to manually build shipping quotes, evaluate cost structures, and coordinate shipments to and from specific destinations.
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
Logistics Pricing & Quote Analysis:
Build accurate, data-driven shipping quotes using Excel and internal tools for parcel, LTL, FTL, LCL, FCL, last-mile delivery, and specialty shipments. Analyze rates, dimensions, weights, packaging configurations, zones, accessorials, and transit times to determine optimal pricing and routing.
Custom Packaging & Dimensional Analysis:
Evaluate custom packaging requirements and calculate dimensional weight, pallet configurations, container utilization, and cubic efficiency. Develop manual pricing models for non-standard shipments and special client requests.
Shipment Coordination & Execution:
Coordinate shipments from origin to destination across domestic and international lanes. Schedule pickups, deliveries, port movements, warehouse transfers, and last-mile services while ensuring accuracy of shipment details.
Multi-Modal Freight Management:
Manage and coordinate logistics across multiple modes, including parcel, LTL, FTL, LCL, FCL, drayage, and last-mile delivery. Select appropriate transportation methods based on cost, service level, and client requirements.
Client Coordination & Cost Communication:
Work directly with clients to gather shipment requirements, clarify logistics needs, present quotes, and communicate costs, timelines, and delivery expectations clearly and professionally.
Carrier & Vendor Coordination:
Coordinate with carriers, freight forwarders, brokers, and service providers to secure capacity, confirm rates, and ensure service execution aligns with quoted terms.
Data Management, Reporting & Analytics:
Maintain accurate logistics data within spreadsheets, tracking systems, and internal tools. Track costs, margins, transit times, and service performance. Prepare reports and analyses to support operational decisions and cost optimization.
Compliance & Documentation Management:
Collect, verify, and maintain logistics and shipping documentation, including bills of lading (BOLs), packing lists, invoices, customs documents, delivery appointments, and proof of delivery. Ensure compliance with customer requirements, carrier rules, and applicable regulations.
Exception Management & Issue Resolution:
Monitor shipments in transit and proactively address delays, damages, misroutes, shortages, or cost discrepancies. Coordinate internally and externally to resolve issues efficiently.
Finance & Cost Verification Support:
Work closely with the finance team to validate logistics costs, review carrier charges, support invoicing accuracy, and identify discrepancies or cost overruns.
Process Improvement & Optimization:
Identify opportunities to improve logistics workflows, pricing models, routing strategies, and data accuracy. Assist in developing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and analytical tools to improve efficiency and scalability.
General Operations & Analytical Support:
Provide operational and analytical support for logistics initiatives, special projects, system implementations, and continuous improvement efforts as needed.
Your role directly supports the company’s ability to deliver cost-effective, data-driven logistics solutions, maintain operational accuracy, and provide a high-quality experience for clients across all logistics and fulfillment services.
