Salary: $[1,000–2,500]/month depending on experience, paid twice monthly. 90-day trial, then permanent.

About the project
We are building a nationwide US auto transport (car shipping) lead-generation website from scratch on a custom Next.js stack. Competitors: Montway, Sherpa, AmeriFreight, uShip, A-1 Auto Transport, RoadRunner. The site will rank across all 50 states through service pages, cost pages, state/city pages, and thousands of programmatic route pages.

You are the SEO brain of the project. A Project Manager handles scheduling, tracking, and hiring logistics. You d ---------- what gets built and why.

What you'll do

Phase 1 — Before design starts (first 30 days)

Full keyword research and competitor teardown: what the top sites rank for, their page types, URL patterns, and content depth
Define the complete site architecture: every page type, URL structure, internal linking, sitemaps
Write a page-by-page section spec for the designer: for each template (home, quote flow, service, cost, state, city, route, guide) list the sections in order, what each section must contain, which sections are required for ranking and conversion, and which to leave out
Review every design draft and approve or send back with specific changes — you own "does this page have what it needs to rank?"

Phase 2 — Build

Write the technical SEO spec for the developer: metadata rules, schema types per template, canonical logic, sitemap structure, Core Web Vitals targets, crawl/index controls for programmatic pages
Define the route dataset: which data fields each route/city/state page needs so pages are unique and rankable, not thin
QA the staging site before launch: crawl it, check rendering, indexability, speed, and internal links

Phase 3 — Growth (ongoing)

Content plan and briefs for writers; quality review of every published page
Link building and digital PR strategy; brief and manage the link builder
Monthly ranking, indexing, and traffic analysis with clear next actions
Continuous optimization of top pages and the quote flow

Requirements

5+ years in SEO with at least one site you ranked nationally in a competitive niche (proof required: Search Console screenshots or a reference)
Programmatic SEO experience: you have built or specified location/route/service-area page systems at 1,000+ pages and can explain how you kept them from being thin
You have written page section specs or wireframes for designers before, and technical SEO specs for developers on custom-coded sites (Next.js/React or similar)
Expert with Ahrefs or Semrush, Search Console, Screaming Frog
Strong written English; you communicate in clear documents, not long calls
Available 40 hours/week with at least 4 hours overlapping US Eastern time
Delegated access only; the company owns all accounts

Nice to have

Auto transport, moving, logistics, or home-services SEO experience
Digital PR / data-study link building
Conversion rate optimization for lead forms

How we work

You set the strategy; the PM tracks it; specialists execute. Weekly written update, monthly review with the owner. Long-term role for someone who wants to build and own a national site.
