About the Role:
I am a Creative Director and filmmaker based in Los Angeles running a fast-growing production business. I am looking for a highly reliable, detail-oriented Junior Video Editor to join my team.
Please read carefully: This is a growth role. To start, you will act as my Assistant Editor, focusing heavily on social media content. Your primary job will be prepping the canvas perfectly (project setup, rough cuts, captioning) so I can come in and do the creative finishing.
However, my ultimate goal is to find someone I can rely on for all of my editing needs. As you master my Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and prove your reliability, I will train you to take over full edits across a variety of formats, including Social Media Reels, Paid Ads, Video Sales Letters (VSLs), and Event Highlight videos. Hours will increase over time for the right candidate.
Hours & Pay:
Structure: Hourly pay (tracked). No project-to-project haggling.
Rate: $4.00 – $8.00 USD per hour, depending on experience and portfolio.
Time Commitment: Starting at an average of 10–15 hours per week. The exact hours will fluctuate based on shoot schedules, but there will be a minimum of a few hours guaranteed every single week.
Phase 1 Responsibilities (Starting Immediately):
Project Setup: Downloading raw footage, organizing folders, and setting up Premiere Pro project files using my exact templates.
The A-Cut: Stringing out raw footage, cutting all dead space, and culling bad takes to create a seamless, perfectly paced vocal track.
Visual Framing: Scaling and positioning A-roll footage to match our standard brand guidelines.
Captions: Generating auto-transcripts in Premiere and applying our specific caption styling presets.
Phase 2 Responsibilities (Future Growth):
Visual Ideation: Using AI prompts to generate visual treatments based on the transcript.
Asset Sourcing & Animation: Finding authentic assets and using After Effects to create clean, minimalist animations.
Expanding Formats: Taking the lead on pacing and cutting long-form VSLs, high-energy ads, and event recaps.
Requirements:
Primary editing software must be Adobe Premiere Pro (we need to be able to share .prproj files seamlessly).
Working knowledge of Adobe After Effects (smooth basic animations and keyframing).
Basic color grading skills in Davinci Resolve.
Fast, reliable internet for downloading heavy raw footage files and uploading project files.
Exceptional attention to detail. If a caption is supposed to be at position 0,500, it cannot be at 0,501.
