We are a growing US residential real estate company managing properties in Iowa, and we are looking for a Junior Property Manager to help run day-to-day property operations remotely.
This is not a purely administrative position. You will work closely with our property management team, maintenance crew, leasing team, and tenants to make sure issues are followed through from start to finish.
We are looking for someone who is organized, proactive, comfortable following up repeatedly, and willing to take ownership when something is not getting done.
* What You’ll Do
- Manage and respond to tenant inquiries through
- Coordinate maintenance requests with tenants and our on-site maintenance team
- Track open work orders and follow up until issues are fully resolved
- Support leasing activities, including inquiries, applications, move-ins, renewals, and move-outs
- Coordinate unit turns and make sure apartments are ready before new tenants arrive
- Maintain accurate records in our property management software
- Follow up with contractors, maintenance staff, tenants, and internal team members when information or action is outstanding
- Identify overdue or unresolved issues and escalate them to management
- Help keep management informed of what is happening across the portfolio
- Support other property management and operations tasks as needed
* What We’re Looking For
Required:
- Strong written and spoken English
- Excellent organization and follow-through
- Comfortable communicating directly with US tenants and vendors
- Able to handle multiple open issues without losing track of details
- Confident following up with people rather than simply waiting for responses
- Good judgment about when an issue needs to be escalated
- Comfortable working during US Central Time business hours
- Reliable internet connection and suitable remote working environment
Preferred:
- Experience in US property management, real estate, leasing, maintenance coordination, or tenant support
- Experience with property management software such as AppFolio, Rent Manager, Buildium, or similar
- Experience working with maintenance teams or contractors
-Previous experience supporting a US-based company
* What Success Looks Like
A good Junior Property Manager does more than pass messages between people.
If a tenant reports a leak, for example, we expect you to know:
What happened → Who is responsible → What is the next action → When should it happen → Has it actually been completed?
You should enjoy bringing structure to situations where several people are involved and making sure nothing falls through the cracks.
* Who Will Do Well Here
You will probably enjoy this role if you:
- Naturally make lists and keep track of unfinished items
- Don't mind reminding someone two or three times when necessary
- Ask questions when something does not make sense
- Take responsibility for getting an answer rather than saying, “I already sent them a message”
- Can be friendly with tenants while still being firm and professional
- Want to develop into a full Property Manager over time
There is room for increased responsibility as you learn our portfolio and demonstrate that you can independently manage day-to-day property operations.
* How to Apply
Please send us:
- A short introduction about yourself and your relevant experience
- Your experience with US property management, if any
- Property management systems or software you have used
- Your availability to work US Central Time
- A short answer to the following scenario: A tenant reported that their air conditioning is not working. You messaged the maintenance technician yesterday, but the technician has not replied and the tenant is now following up again. What would you do next?
Please begin your application with the words “Junior PM – Iowa” so we know you have read the full posting.
