Arab Game News is looking for a Junior Gaming News Writer to join our growing editorial team.

Arab Game News is a gaming news website dedicated to covering the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), from the latest games and esports stories to the companies, events, creators and people shaping the region's rapidly growing gaming industry.

We're looking for someone who loves video games, follows gaming news and wants to build a career in digital media and journalism.

What you'll be doing
- Researching and writing gaming and esports news stories, with a particular focus on the Middle East and MENA region.
- Keeping up with gaming news, announcements, events, tournaments, publishers, developers and industry trends.
- Identifying interesting stories and pitching ideas relevant to Arab Game News readers.
- Turning press releases, announcements and other sources into clear, engaging and original news stories.
- Uploading, formatting and publishing articles through our Wix CMS.
- Sourcing appropriate images and media for stories.
- Sharing published stories across our social media channels.
- Writing engaging social copy and helping grow the Arab Game News audience.
- Occasionally contributing interviews, features and other longer-form content.
- Working with the editorial team to ensure stories are accurate, timely and well written.

What we're looking for

You don't need years of journalism experience. We're looking for someone at the beginning of their career who is enthusiastic, curious and keen to learn.

You should have:

- A genuine passion for video games and good knowledge of the gaming industry.
- A strong interest in the Middle East's gaming and esports scene.
- Strong written English and the ability to communicate clearly and accurately.
- Good news judgement and an understanding of what makes an interesting story.
- Experience using a CMS. Experience with Wix is preferred.
- Experience using social media platforms to publish and promote content.
- An understanding of platforms such as X, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and YouTube.
- The ability to research stories and verify information before publishing.
- Good attention to detail.
- The ability to work independently, manage deadlines and react quickly when news breaks.

Nice to have
- Previous writing experience, whether for a publication, university, personal blog or gaming website.
- Knowledge of the gaming and esports ecosystem in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and the wider MENA region.
- Arabic language skills.
- Basic understanding of SEO and writing headlines for digital publications.
- Experience creating simple social media graphics, images or short-form video content.
- Existing relationships or familiarity with gaming publishers, developers, esports organisations or PR agencies in the region.
