# Junior AI Automation Specialist – n8n & AI Tools

**Remote | Full-Time | Philippines**
**Entry-Level / Junior Position**

## About Us

We are a growing cabinetry and custom millwork company based in San Jose, California. Our team works across sales, marketing, design, estimating, manufacturing, installation, customer service, and business operations.

We are actively introducing AI and automation into our daily workflows and are looking for a **Junior AI Automation Specialist** to help us build, test, maintain, and improve practical AI-powered tools and automations.

This is a **junior-level position**.

We are **not looking for a senior AI engineer or an expert who already knows everything**.

We are looking for someone who is technically curious, logical, reliable, and excited about figuring out how AI and automation can solve real business problems.

If you enjoy experimenting with ChatGPT, Claude, n8n, APIs, automation tools, or building small technical projects on your own, we would like to hear from you.

## What You’ll Do

Your main job will be to help turn repetitive manual processes into simple, reliable automated workflows.

You will:

* Build and maintain workflows using **n8n**
* Work with tools such as Make, Zapier, Google Workspace, CRM systems, email platforms, and other business software
* Connect different applications using APIs and webhooks
* Use AI models such as ChatGPT / OpenAI, Claude, and Gemini inside business workflows
* Build simple AI-powered assistants and internal tools
* Help automate data entry, lead processing, follow-ups, reporting, notifications, and other repetitive tasks
* Use AI to extract, organize, classify, summarize, and process information
* Test automations carefully before deployment
* Troubleshoot and repair workflows when something breaks
* Monitor existing automations and improve their reliability
* Document workflows, logic, account connections, and troubleshooting steps
* Research new AI tools and determine whether they could improve our operations
* Work with our team to understand business problems and translate them into automation workflows

## Examples of Projects You May Work On

You may help us build automations such as:

**Lead Management**

Website inquiry
→ Capture customer information
→ AI classifies the lead
→ Save information to CRM or Google Sheets
→ Notify the correct salesperson
→ Generate a follow-up draft

**Email & Project Information**

Incoming project email
→ AI reads the message
→ Extract project name, company, deadline, scope, and contact information
→ Organize the information
→ Create a task or record
→ Notify the appropriate team member

**Sales Follow-Up**

Salesperson enters meeting notes
→ AI organizes the notes
→ Creates a CRM summary
→ Generates a follow-up email
→ Schedules a reminder if the customer does not respond

**Reporting**

Collect information from different sources
→ Clean and organize the data
→ Update a dashboard or spreadsheet
→ Generate a simple AI summary for management

**Internal AI Tools**

Build lightweight tools that help our team search information, summarize documents, organize project information, generate drafts, or complete repetitive tasks faster.

These are examples only. Part of the role is continuously identifying other tasks that can be improved through AI and automation.

You may also use AI coding tools such as:

* Claude Code

* GitHub Copilot

We do **not** expect you to already be an expert in every tool listed above.

Being able to learn new tools quickly is more important.

## What We’re Looking For

We care strongly about **how you think and learn**, not just how many years of experience you have.

You should be someone who:

* Enjoys solving technical problems
* Likes figuring out how systems work
* Is comfortable learning from documentation, tutorials, YouTube, ChatGPT, Claude, and other resources
* Can break a problem into logical steps
* Tests your work instead of assuming it works
* Pays attention to details
* Is reliable and follows through
* Can work independently after receiving clear direction
* Is comfortable saying, “I don't know yet, but I will figure it out”
* Can explain technical problems in simple English
* Documents what you build
* Is interested in AI and actively experiments with new tools
* Wants to develop long-term skills in AI automation

## Technical Foundation

You should have at least a basic understanding of:

* Automation logic
* APIs
* Webhooks
* JSON
* Data flow between applications
* Basic programming logic

Experience with **JavaScript or Python** is preferred, but you do not need to be an advanced developer.

For example, you should eventually be comfortable using JavaScript or Python for simple tasks such as:

* Formatting data
* Cleaning text
* Manipulating arrays
* Processing JSON
* Working with dates
* Making API requests

Using ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, or other AI coding tools to help you write and debug code is encouraged.

## AI Skills

You should have hands-on experience experimenting with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini.

You should understand or be interested in learning how AI can be used for:

* Information extraction
* Classification
* Summarization
* Structured output
* Content generation
* Data processing
* Prompt design
* AI assistants
* Tool calling
* Simple AI agents

Advanced experience with RAG, MCP, vector databases, or multi-agent systems is **not required** for this position.

You may have opportunities to learn these technologies as your skills develop.

## Education & Experience

Ideal candidates may have:

* 0–2 years of relevant experience
* A degree or current studies in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field

However, a technical degree is **not required** if you can demonstrate strong hands-on ability.

* Career changers with technical skills
* Candidates who have built personal AI or automation projects

School projects, personal projects, GitHub projects, and experimental automations are all welcome.

We want someone with a **good technical foundation and strong learning ability who can grow into more advanced work over time.**

## Schedule

* Full-time remote position
* Philippines-based candidates preferred
* Most technical work can be completed independently
* Some overlap with U.S. Pacific Time will be needed for meetings, project discussions, and testing
* Long-term position for the right person

A customer submits a form on our website containing their name, email, phone number, company, and message.

We want AI to determine whether the customer is a homeowner, contractor, designer, or builder, save the information, notify the correct salesperson, and prepare a follow-up email.

**Briefly explain how you would build this workflow.**

You do not need to provide code. We want to understand how you think.

**5. Tell us about something technical you did not know how to do at first but taught yourself successfully. How did you figure it out?**

**6. Which AI tool do you currently use the most, and what do you use it for?**

## Practical Test

Candidates who pass the first interview may be invited to complete a **short paid practical test**.

The test may involve building a simple automation using n8n, an AI model, Google Sheets, and an API or webhook.

We care more about your **problem-solving process, logic, testing, and ability to learn** than whether you already know every feature.

You don't need to know everything today.

But you should enjoy learning, experimenting, building, testing, fixing, and continuously making systems better.
