Role Purpose
The Direct Response Copywriter is responsible for writing all high-converting marketing copy used across funnels, landing pages, sales pages, VSLs, emails, ads, and content hooks. This role must write in a direct response style consistent with Russell Brunson frameworks—clear hooks, persuasive storytelling, emotional triggers, problem-solution framing, and offer-centered messaging.
The writer’s primary objective is to increase conversions at every stage of the funnel through powerful copy that drives action.
Key Responsibilities
1. Funnel & Landing Page Copywriting
Write high-performing headlines, subheads, lead paragraphs, call-to-actions, and persuasive body copy.
Develop core messaging for lead magnets, tripwires, core offers, upsells, and high-ticket programs.
Create persuasive copy for squeeze pages, VSL funnels, webinar funnels, and 2-step order forms.
Interpret funnel architecture provided by the Funnel Architect and translate it into compelling copy.
2. Email & Nurture Sequence Copywriting
Write indoctrination emails, nurture sequences, promotional campaigns, and follow-ups.
Create curiosity-based subject lines, open loop sequences, soft sell, hard sell, and deadline-driven campaigns.
Improve open rates, click rates, and sales conversion through structured testing.
3. Storytelling & Framework-Based Messaging
Use the Epiphany Bridge Script, Hook–Story–Offer, Seinfeld emails, and other Russell Brunson frameworks.
Build emotional narratives that move the audience from skepticism to belief.
Craft persuasive stories using data, case studies, customer pain points, and origin stories.
4. Video Scripts (VSLs, Ads, Webinars)
Write short and long-form video scripts (1–20 minutes) optimized for engagement and conversions.
Structure ads using hook variations, scroll-stoppers, problem agitation, and CTA-driven endings.
Collaborate with video editors to ensure script execution aligns with copy intent.
5. Research & Market Analysis
Deeply study customer avatars, pain points, desires, and objections.
Analyze competitor funnels and deconstruct their messaging.
Maintain ongoing swipe files and incorporate winning patterns into new campaigns.
6. Collaboration & Optimization
Work directly with the Funnel Architect, Designers, Media Buyers, and SEO team.
Support A/B testing through headline variations, hook angles, and CTA iterations.
Refine existing copy based on performance data and KPIs.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Proven experience writing direct response copy for funnels, ads, VSLs, and email sequences.
Understanding of Russell Brunson frameworks:
Hook–Story–Offer, Epiphany Bridge Script, Value Ladder messaging, Seinfeld emails, Stack Slides.
Experience writing for service businesses, SaaS, coaching, e-commerce, or info products.
Strong knowledge of conversion psychology, persuasion, and customer segmentation.
Ability to write quickly, clearly, and persuasively under deadlines.
Portfolio demonstrating measurable conversion improvements.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience writing for ClickFunnels 2.0, Webflow funnels, or WordPress-based funnels.
Familiarity with Hyros, GA4, ClickMagic, or other attribution tools.
Understanding of paid media ecosystems (Meta, Google, TikTok, YouTube).
Background in direct response marketing, Dan Kennedy style, or Ogilvy principles.
