We are seeking an experienced Internal Quality Control Reviewer to ensure the accuracy, compliance, and technical integrity of all tax returns prepared within our high-volume bankruptcy support tax practice. This role is ideal for a CPA with deep expertise in both individual and business tax returns, and who thrives in a fast-paced environment supporting hundreds of monthly filings.
As a senior member of the tax operations team, you will review complex returns, guide preparers, strengthen quality processes, and help build scalable systems. You’ll directly contribute to delivering compliant, audit-ready returns for clients referred by bankruptcy attorneys across the U.S.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Review
Review a high volume of individual tax returns (Form 1040 and all related schedules) for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
Conduct detailed quality review of self-employed and business returns, including:
Schedule C (sole proprietors)
Schedule E (rentals, pass-through income)
Forms 1065 and 1120-S (partnerships & S-corporations)
Multi-year filings and complex business situations
Verify consistency with IRS Wage & Income transcripts, bank statements, profit and loss documentation, and client records
Identify errors, gaps, or inconsistencies in business income, deductions, depreciation, and bookkeeping-based returns
Process & Compliance
Execute and refine internal SOPs, checklists, and QC standards for both individual and business tax workflows
Ensure returns meet the compliance standards required by bankruptcy trustees, courts, and attorney partners
Track accuracy metrics and recommend process improvements
Maintain current expertise in federal and state tax law changes impacting individuals and small businesses
Required Qualifications
Active CPA license
3+ years of U.S. individual and business tax preparation and/or review
Strong expertise in:
Schedule C
Schedule E
Partnerships (1065)
S-Corporations (1120-S)
Experience reviewing multi-year returns and reconstruction-based filings
Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to thrive in high-volume, deadline-driven environments
