Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Architect – Interior Design Documentation Specialist to support our residential projects in California. This role focuses on the preparation of high-quality interior design construction documents and post-permit revisions.
You will play a critical role in translating design intent into precise, buildable drawings, ensuring coordination across disciplines and compliance with applicable codes and standards. This position is ideal for someone with strong documentation experience who thrives in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Construction Documentation:
Develop and refine detailed interior design construction documents, including floor plans, reflected ceiling plans (RCPs), elevations, sections, schedules, and interior details.
- Technical Coordination:
Coordinate architectural interiors with structural, MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing), and civil drawings to ensure fully integrated and conflict-free documentation.
- Code Compliance:
Ensure all drawings comply with California building codes, local zoning regulations, and industry standards.
- Post-Permit Documentation:
Prepare supplemental drawings, revisions, and addendums to address plan check comments, RFIs, and construction changes.
- Design Translation:
Accurately translate design concepts, sketches, and markups from designers into clear and precise technical drawings.
- Team Collaboration:
Work closely with architects, interior designers, project managers, and consultants to maintain documentation accuracy and efficiency.
- Quality Control:
Review drawings for completeness, consistency, and constructability prior to submission.
- Software Utilization:
Produce high-quality drawings using industry-standard tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in architectural/interior design documentation (residential experience preferred; US projects a plus)
- Software Proficiency:
- Strong proficiency in Revit & Autocad (required)
- Knowledge of SketchUp and Bluebeam is an advantage
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Technical Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of construction detailing and documentation standards
- Familiarity with MEP and structural coordination
- Knowledge of California codes is a plus
- Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal English communication
- Strong attention to detail and organization
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
